About Us

Our happy place is yours! We are a Lake Zurich-based, family-owned cafe dedicated to serving quality food and drinks to our community. Every dish on our menu and drink that we serve is created with care.

Role Summary

We opened our doors in October, 2020. As our business continues to increase, we are looking for a reliable team member to support our back-of-house function. This person will be responsible for the preparation of food and ingredients. A successful candidate will be a strong communicator who is able to multitask, and have great attention to detail. You will assist in preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting the overall flow of meal production. Your dedication ensures that our kitchen operates efficiently, safely, and in accordance with food safety standards. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about food preparation and service, this opportunity is for you! Previous experience in a commercial kitchen is ideal. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation.

Job Overview

Join our dynamic culinary team as a Kitchen Prep Team Member, where your energy and attention to detail will help create a seamless food service experience.

Responsibilities

Set up and maintain workstations with all needed ingredients and supplies
Complete all tasks, in order of priority, on the prep list
Maintain ingredient inventory and collaborate with other team members and management to order resupply
Label and stock all ingredients to ensure all items are stored properly
Wash, chop and sort ingredients like fruits, vegetables, meats, etc.
Check quality of ingredients
Bake food, prepare syrups and sauces, and start first steps in various dishes
Clean dishes, wash cooking utensils and cookware, take out the trash and sanitize kitchen
Adhere to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
Keep a sanitized and orderly environment

Qualifications

Previous experience in dietary departments, dietary aide roles, or the food industry is highly preferred
Ability to follow instructions and learn new information
Excellent communication skills
Familiarity with menu planning, food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
Strong knife skills and slicing techniques for efficient ingredient prep
Experience in restaurant or kitchen environments demonstrating good food handling practices and sanitation procedures
Knowledge of safety standards in production environments to prevent accidents and ensure hygiene
Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a team-oriented setting while maintaining attention to detail
Basic understanding of culinary processes related to meal preparation and food service operations
Ability to read and speak English
Reliable with transportation and the ability to show up for assigned shifts on time
