Position Summary
The Director of Programs is a key member of the LEAD Girls of NC leadership team and is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of the organization's programs. This role provides leadership to program staff, builds strong relationships with schools, families, volunteers, and community partners, and helps ensure that LEAD Girls' programs continue to make a meaningful impact on the girls and families we serve.
In addition to overseeing daily program operations, this position contributes to strategic planning, organizational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts. The Director also serves as an ambassador for LEAD Girls, helping strengthen community partnerships and expand awareness of the organization's mission. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about empowering girls, enjoys leading people, and thrives in a collaborative nonprofit environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Lead the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of all LEAD Girls programs, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
- Oversee programs including LEAD Academy, LEAD Leadership Programs (Community and In-School), Expo, Soiree, and future pilot initiatives.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on participant outcomes and organizational goals.
- Analyze program trends, identify challenges, and recommend solutions to the Executive Director.
- Oversee the organization's program database, ensuring accurate data collection, reporting, and analysis.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports and statistics.
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain program participants.
- Recruit, engage, and support volunteers who contribute to LEAD Girls programming.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand and enhance programming.
Staff Leadership
- Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate program staff.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission-focused team culture.
- Lead regular department meetings to promote communication, collaboration, and accountability.
- In partnership with the Executive Director, participate in hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary processes for program staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing to support high-quality program delivery.
Organizational Leadership
- Serve as a member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational decision-making.
- Collaborate across the organization to support LEAD Girls' mission and long-term goals.
- Lead or participate in special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.
Community Engagement
- Represent LEAD Girls at community events, outreach activities, partner meetings, and public presentations to increase awareness of the organization's mission and programs.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with schools, families, volunteers, donors, community partners, and other stakeholders.
- Support the Expo Committee and other committees as assigned.
Administration
- Oversee communications with students, parents/guardians, volunteers, and community partners, ensuring timely, professional, and consistent communication.
- Maintain organized program records and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is passionate about empowering girls and has the leadership skills to grow and strengthen LEAD Girls' programs while building meaningful relationships throughout the community.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, families, volunteers, schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated with sound judgment, initiative, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
- Enthusiasm for the mission of LEAD Girls of NC and a commitment to serving girls ages 9–16 and their families.
- Require: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Human Services, or a related field
- Preferred: Progressively responsible experience in youth development, education, nonprofit leadership, or a related field, including experience supervising, coaching, and developing employees or volunteers.
- Preferred: Experience using data to evaluate program effectiveness and support decision-making.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as program activities require.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
