Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing essential administrative support while maintaining a high standard of patient service. This position requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in medical terminology, and familiarity with various electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Duties

Manage patient scheduling and appointment confirmations to optimize clinic flow.
Perform insurance verification and assist with medical billing processes.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Conduct intake procedures for new patients, including collecting necessary information and medical history.
Review care plans and ensure proper documentation is maintained for each patient visit.
Assist with medical coding using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and other relevant coding systems.
Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
Serve as the first point of contact for patients, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure efficient communication regarding patient care and administrative tasks.
Utilize various EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and others as needed.

Skills

Proficient in medical terminology and health information management practices.
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems is essential; familiarity with Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks preferred.
Strong understanding of medical billing processes and insurance verification procedures.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping.
Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to enhance patient communication services.
Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is highly desirable; dental office experience is a plus.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and 10-key typing ability.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion towards patients.
