Job Title: Operations Coordinator- Underwriting & Corporate Ops

Team: Operations

Overview:

As an Operations Coordinator with a focus on supporting our underwriting team, you’ll play a critical role in the full life cycle of underwriting efforts for our clients while also assisting with other important corporate initiatives internally. This role combines traditional underwriting support with a consultative approach to help evaluate client risks and contribute to customized insurance solutions. In this role,you’ll gain deep exposure to captive insurance, the evaluation of different types of risk management, experience with internal corporate initiatives, and client advisory work—partnering directly with entrepreneurs, insurance advisors, and actuaries while building specialized expertise in a growing and highly respected niche of the insurance industry.

What You’ll Do:

Guide New Clients Through the Underwriting Process: You’ll help new clients navigate the onboarding process by gathering their commercial insurance policies, completing underwriting applications, and answering questions. You’ll serve as a clear and helpful point of contact for clients and brokers as they work through the information needed to begin the underwriting process.
Coordinate with Actuaries to Support Policy Pricing: You’ll work closely with actuaries and clients to ensure all necessary information is collected for accurate policy pricing. This includes communicating back and forth with both parties, clarifying requests, and helping keep the underwriting process moving efficiently.
Support Clients with New Coverage Requests: Throughout the year, clients may choose to add new coverages or lines of insurance. You’ll help gather the required information, coordinate with actuaries, and support the process of adding new lines to a client’s program as needed.
Manage the Annual Renewal Process: Annually, you’ll assist clients with their renewal underwriting applications, answer questions, and help ensure the necessary information is completed and submitted.
Serve as a Resource for Industry Professionals: You’ll help respond to questions from actuaries, captive attorneys, and other professionals involved in the underwriting process.
Contribute to Underwriting Process Improvements: You’ll support team projects designed to improve and streamline the underwriting process.
Internal Project Management: You’ll work with the managing partner and other internal leaders on a variety of corporate projects which will support clients and internal team members through process enhancements, data organization, improving workflows and other projects designed to assist the company as it continues to grow.

What You’ll Bring:

BA/BS in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, MIS, Economics or other degrees combining business process thinking, analytic ability and problem solving
1-3 years business experience developed through internships and professional experience. Experience in the insurance industry is a plus but not required
Superior communication skills required and experience in a client-facing role strongly preferred
Excellent organizational skills and an ability to work in a self-directed environment
Ability to learn quickly a must
Strong Excel skills, working knowledge of all Microsoft Office suite
Ability to work in our Knoxville, TN office 4 days per week with an average of 1 day of work from home if preferred

Additional Details:

Annual base salary for positions at this level starts at $50,000 (before bonuses) and your base pay will depend on the qualifications, experience, skills and competencies required for this role.
