Manufacturing Quality Engineer

The Job

In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing quality systems that ensure parts and assemblies consistently meet customer and engineering requirements. You will oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities; develop inspection plans and quality documentation; analyze quality data; and identify opportunities for process improvement, defect reduction, and operational efficiency gains.

This role serves as the quality lead supporting manufacturing operations from incoming receipt through final shipment, partnering closely with production, purchasing, receiving, shipping, suppliers, and engineering to drive quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, quality procedures, and work instructions.

· Perform and oversee incoming inspection activities for supplier-provided materials and components.

· Perform and oversee final inspection activities prior to shipment.

· Lead and document First Article Inspections (FAI) and production validation activities.

· Develop and maintain dimensional reports, FAIR packages, and customer quality documentation.

· Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.

· Analyze quality metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Lead initiatives focused on defect reduction, throughput improvement, and manufacturing efficiency gains.

· Work with suppliers to resolve quality concerns, implement corrective actions, and improve overall supplier performance.

· Support calibration programs and measurement systems.

· Collaborate with engineering, production, purchasing, receiving, and shipping teams to ensure quality requirements are achieved throughout the manufacturing and fulfillment process.

· Drive a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

· 7+ years of Quality Engineering or Quality Management experience in CNC machining, fabrication, precision manufacturing, automation, or custom equipment manufacturing environments.

· Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical part drawings, assembly drawings, engineering specifications, and GD&T requirements.

· Experience creating Inspection Plans, Control Plans, FAIRs, and dimensional inspection reports.

· Experience performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections.

· Strong understanding of measuring equipment, calibration systems, and inspection methodologies.

· Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing improvements that reduce defects, improve throughput, increase manufacturing efficiency, or enhance product quality.

· Experience supporting ISO 9001 quality systems.

· Experience reviewing and interpreting technical drawings to support inspection planning, quality verification, and manufacturing processes.

Preferred Qualifications

· ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

· ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)

· GD&T Certification (ASME Y14.5)

· Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt

· Experience with CMMs and other advanced metrology equipment used for inspection and reporting

Compensation

$95,000 - $125,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, plus performance bonus.
