Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Temporary Purchasing Agent specializing in electrical contracting supplies and materials. In this dynamic role, you will oversee procuring materials, equipment, tools, and services needed to support electrical construction projects. This position works closely with project managers, estimators, warehouse personnel, and vendors to ensure materials are purchased accurately, delivered on time, and at the best value while maintaining quality standards and project schedules.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Purchase electrical materials, equipment, and supplies for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional projects.
Obtain competitive pricing and negotiate costs, lead times, and terms with vendors.
Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
Review project material requests for completeness and accuracy.
Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and field personnel regarding material requirements and delivery schedules.
Monitor order status and proactively resolve shipping delays, backorders, and product substitutions.
Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and supplier representatives.
Verify and resolve pricing or quantity discrepancies on invoices.
Work with project team to understand material scope and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Assist with buyout activities following project award.
Maintain accurate purchasing records within the company's ERP/accounting software, Spectrum.
Coordinate with warehouse staff regarding site deliveries and material transfers.
Ensure purchased materials meet requested specifications
Stay informed on market pricing, product availability, and industry trends.
Support continuous improvement of purchasing procedures and vendor performance.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
May occasionally visit warehouses, jobsites, or vendor locations.

Experience Requirements:

This position requires a High Scholl Diploma and/or experience by which an understanding of electrical systems and tools required has been gained and a minimum of two years of experience in electrical construction industry preferred.
