Executive Chef – Moe’s Steakhouse & Molly’s Mission Beach

Location: Mission Beach, San Diego, CA
Salary: $85,000–$95,000

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, creative, and driven Executive Chef to lead the culinary vision for Moe’s Steakhouse and Molly’s—two distinct but complementary concepts in the heart of Mission Beach.

This is a unique opportunity for a chef who thrives in both elevated, fine dining environments and high-quality, fast-casual café settings. The ideal candidate is passionate about innovation, consistency, and leadership, with the ability to seamlessly execute across both refined steakhouse cuisine and approachable, high-volume daytime offerings.

You will oversee all kitchen operations, drive menu development, and mentor a dynamic culinary team—bringing fresh ideas while maintaining the integrity and standards of both brands.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, train, and inspire culinary teams across both Moe’s Steakhouse and Molly’s Café
Develop and execute innovative, seasonal menus that align with each brand’s identity
Ensure exceptional quality, consistency, and presentation across all dishes
Oversee all kitchen operations including prep, service, and execution in both concepts
Maintain and enforce food safety, sanitation, and compliance standards
Manage inventory, food costs, and purchasing to optimize efficiency and minimize waste
Collaborate with ownership and management on special events, catering, and promotions
Implement systems to improve kitchen efficiency, workflow, and team productivity
Stay ahead of culinary trends and continuously elevate offerings across both menus
Oversee kitchen equipment, maintenance, and cleanliness to ensure a safe working environment

Qualifications

Proven experience as an Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, upscale or fine dining environment
Strong background in steakhouse cuisine, butchery, and high-end plating techniques preferred
Experience in fast-casual, brunch, or café-style concepts is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing culinary teams
Deep understanding of food cost control, inventory systems, and kitchen operations
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation regulations
Creative, trend-aware, and passionate about pushing culinary boundaries
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-concept environment
