Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Ware Disposal, Inc. This role is crucial in overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficiency in our waste management processes, and driving strategic initiatives that align with our commitment to sustainability. The position is based in San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing Collection and Transport:

Managing the collection of residential, commercial, and industrial waste, as well as the transport of waste to processing or disposal facilities.

Managing Personnel:

Hiring, training, and supervising employees, including drivers, loaders, and equipment operators. Oversee personnel needs of the locations including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating their performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

Optimizing Operations:

Identifying areas for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.

Managing Equipment:

Overseeing the maintenance and repair of vehicles, equipment, and facilities.

Monitoring and Reporting:

Tracking waste volume, cost, and environmental performance, and preparing reports for management and regulatory agencies.

Collaborating with Stakeholders:

Working with municipalities, private waste companies, and other stakeholders to develop and implement waste management strategies.

Skills and Knowledge:

Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential for managing personnel and teams.

Technical Knowledge:

Understanding of waste management processes, including collection, transport, processing, and disposal methods.

Regulatory Compliance

Knowledge of environmental regulations and permits related to solid waste management.

Problem Solving

Ability to identify and resolve issues related to operations, safety, and compliance.

Communication

Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with employees, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.

Ensuring Compliance:

Implementing and enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and permits. Ensure that all facilities are in compliance with all Federal, State, OSHA, DOT and Local regulations and requirements.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree required (Business preferred) or equivalent experience
Proven experience as an Operations Manager or similar role in the waste management or related industry.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
Demonstrated expertise in project management and process improvement methodologies.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
Experience with profit loss management and financial analysis is essential.
Ability to develop strategic plans that drive operational success.
