Job Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Tax Preparer and play a vital role in helping clients navigate their tax obligations with confidence and clarity. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your accounting and tax experience in a fast-paced environment. As a Tax Preparer/Receptionist you will assist individuals and small businesses in preparing accurate tax returns, ensuring compliance with current regulations, and providing exceptional customer service. Your expertise will contribute to a smooth transition to the next tax season, empowering clients to achieve their financial goals while gaining valuable professional experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individual and small business clients using advanced accounting software and tax preparation tools
Review financial documents such as W-2s, 1099s, receipts, and bank statements to gather necessary data for accurate filings
Analyze client financial information to identify deductions, credits, and potential savings opportunities
Maintain detailed records of all client interactions, documentation, and completed returns in compliance with confidentiality standards
Provide clear explanations of tax concepts and procedures to clients, answering questions with professionalism and enthusiasm
Stay updated on current tax laws, regulations, and software updates to ensure compliance and accuracy throughout the season
Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional customer service during peak tax season
Perform general office tasks and errands.

Requirements

Proven experience in tax preparation. Familiarity using accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage is a plus but not required.
Strong understanding of financial concepts, corporate accounting, bookkeeping, and technical accounting principles
Excellent analysis skills combined with attention to detail for accurate data entry (including 10 key typing proficiency)
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to clients from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated knowledge of marketing strategies to promote services and enhance client engagement is a plus
Basic math skills essential for calculations related to deductions, credits, and financial analysis
Customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team during the busy tax season
