SUMMARY:
Assistant Manager is responsible and accountable for supervising and supporting the store manager with counter and yard employees and activities in our Laguna Niguel location. Helps ensure that all activities are consistent with and supportive of the business procedures. Assists in ensuring all employees (of counter and yard crew persons) perform their job responsibilities and meet expectations in all areas of their job descriptions and motivating employees to perform according to their maximum capacity. Maintains an open-door policy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Complete knowledge of materials and their different applications and be able to figure from a rough set of plans the materials needed
2. Help customers with materials needed for specific jobs
3. Assist with opening and closing store
4. Assist with training new employees
5. Assist with hiring and firing
6. Help Organize all store operations and allocate responsibilities to personnel
7. Make sure each employee is in uniform daily
8. Field complaints by clients and employees and follow up on comments.
9. Document complaints from employees and send to HR.
10. Follow procedures with customers checks by requiring complete proper I.D., job address, and any other additional information required.
11. Take orders for deliveries complete with all information required on order pad, including any special instructions, to ensure proper delivery
12. Work closely with dispatchers and customers for those items requiring special orders
13. Maintain shelf stock-up and cleaning. Work with store manager on items that are selling and need re-ordering.
14. Make sure the store manager is aware of items that do not sell. Keep counter area and sales area in good, clean condition.
15. Be sure that materials ordered for delivery are in stock or make sure dispatcher is aware that they will be needed at the time of delivery.
16. Be knowledgeable of delivery capabilities, pallet quantities and weight, etc.
17. Banking/Managers signature on deposit slip
18. Email new accident or incident reports safety committee
19. List returned or problem checks
20. Run overtime reports
21. Assist with updating schedule for store employees
22. Winter plan/rainy day plan
23. Assist with inventory when function is being conducted
24. Store supplies (office/coffee/restroom)
25. Open PO report for store
26. Include open P.O. status on monthly managers’ report
27. Assemble obsolete inventory for clearance/Please List
28. Assemble inventory for other locations/Please List
29. Post promotional materials distributed by marketing department/spiffs
30. Request inventory to cover promotions.
31. Customer call backs/special orders
32. Maintain yard scheduling, monitoring overtime, support manager with reviews and counseling.
33. Review yard timecards.
34. Organizing training of the yard staff with product knowledge and on-site location of products.
35. Assist manager in maintaining proper inventory levels. Recommends reorder lists, manage material and pallet returns to vendors for credit. Responsible for all incoming and outgoing truck loads, making sure loads are accurate.
36. Train yard staff and new counter staff in proper use of yard equipment (forklifts, skiploaders and sweeper) Check all equipment, oil inspection reports daily etc.
37. Make sure all incoming material is being correctly received and in a timely manner, on blind P.O.’s
38. Make sure all clients’ loads are properly weighed for inventory accuracy.
39. Help with customer return materials assuring materials are acceptable counted, properly weighed and relabeled to be put back in stock.
40. Maintain proper labeling of inventory and stock levels including material organized in its proper place.
41. Facilitate yard personnel’s cleaning and organizational duties per assigned areas of the yard.
42. Be responsible for safe operation of yard equipment. Red tag, and report any equipment problems or failures, as well as any other unsafe condition in the yard to manager.
43. Maintain safe working conditions in yard, make sure all employees are adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
44. Make sure loading tickets are being handled properly daily. Items sold are marked off properly, completed all tickets are signed w/ employee # and time in and out for loading, and date and returned inside for scanning. Partial orders same process but returned to partial load file.
45. Always keep yard clean
46. Order product daily.
47. Fuel all equipment daily before you leave at the end of the day.
48. All keys are pulled from all equipment- forklifts, tractors and trucks and are all put in key room on designated key space.
49. Plug in 1 of 2 electric forklifts.
50. All trash emptied in whole yard, and inside from offices. Placed in dumpster and leave dumpster up front so other staff can throw away trash, lid must be closed on trash can.
51. All cement products are put away to keep dry. This includes any special orders that come in, either salesperson, truck driver, client whoever brings it into the yard.
52. In charge of yard scheduling, monitoring overtime, support manager with reviews and counseling.
53. And returns to vendors for credit. Responsible for all incoming and outgoing truck loads, making sure loads are accurate.
