JOB SUMMARY

As a Systems Analyst, your primary responsibility is to analyze and optimize the university’s systems, applications, and databases to ensure their efficiency and effectiveness in supporting the institution’s academic and administrative functions. Your role requires a strong technical skillset and an understanding of the university’s needs and priorities enabling the institution to better serve its students, staff, and faculty.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Director of Student Information Systems

Supervisory Responsibility: N/A

Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: N/A

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but is not limited to the following:

Analyzing existing systems and business processes, identifying areas for improvement to optimize workflows and streamline processes.
Designing, developing, testing, and implementing new systems and applications.
Collaborating with university stakeholders to identify business requirements and develop technical solutions that meet those needs.
Utilize SQL to create and maintain stored procedures, jobs, and processes.
Providing second-level technical support to university staff and faculty to resolve system-related issues and ensure the smooth operation of critical systems.
Managing system security and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Training end-users on new systems and applications and providing ongoing support as needed.

EDUCATION

Required Education:

High School/GED

Preferred Education:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or other related field.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

N/A

EXPERIENCE

Required:

At least one year experience in systems analysis, design, development, and implementation.

Preferred:

Experience in the higher education sector is a plus
Jenzabar experience is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Knowledge of database management, programming languages, and other technical skills required for the job.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred:

Experience with SQL databases.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Requirements:

Office Environment: Ability to work primarily in an office setting, which involves sitting for extended periods. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing at a desk) for 75% to 90% of the workday.
Computer Use: Proficiency in using computers for various tasks, which requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for typing and handling office equipment.
Communication: Strong verbal communication skills for meetings, presentations, and interactions with staff, students, and parents.
Mobility: Capability to move around the office and campus as needed for meetings, events and to collaborate with others at workstations/offices.
Repetitive Fine Motor Movements: Requires continuous and repetitive use of hands, wrists, and fingers for intensive computer keyboarding, mouse operation, and software navigation.
Standing: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time for meetings and events.
Lifting: Occasionally lift and carry items such as files, documents, or small office equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Visual Requirements: Ability to read and interpret data on computer screens and printed documents.
Hearing and Speaking: Adequate hearing to participate in conversations and phone calls, and clear speaking ability for effective communication.

Monday -Friday 8am - 4:30pm

TRAINING

All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. Required compliance training is as follows:

Probationary period will include training in systems, processes, and institutional knowledge. Ongoing training opportunities will be provided.

Emergency Employees report for or must remain at work in emergency situations. Dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to this position, unless instructed otherwise by your direct supervisor or a member of the Leadership Team.

SCREENING

All full-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the University’s insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
