Full Job Description

Job Summary

Our established periodontal practice in Tacoma is looking for a highly experienced dental front office professional ready to bring their skills to our team. This is not an entry-level opportunity- The ideal candiadate is someone who is familiar with the rhythm and needs of a busy dental office.

Previous dental front-office experience is required. Applicants without it will not be considered.

If you're the person your team and patients count on - someone who takes ownership, stays sharp under pressure, and takes initiative- we want to meet you.

Responsibilities

Deliver a warm, professional experience for patients- in person and on the phone
Schedule surgeries, new patient exams, follow-ups, and other appointments with precision and accuracy
Manage the schedule strategically, balancing urgency, appointment length, provider availability, and office productivity
Assist with preparing and presenting treatment plans
Generate accurate patient financial estimates -catching discrepancies before they become problems
Clearly explain treatment costs, estimated insurance benefits, and patient financial responsibility
Collect patient portions, deposits, copayments, and outstanding balances
Handle patient check-in and check-out efficiently and accurately
Follow up proactively on unscheduled treatment
Maintain precise, detailed patient records, appointment notes, and financial documentation
Communicate clearly with doctors, clinical staff, patients, and referring dental offices
Assist with insurance verifications
Uphold patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Anticipate front-office needs and take initiative

Required Experience and Qualifications

Previous front-office experience in a dental practice - required
Experience scheduling dental surgeries and exams
Strong working knowledge of dental terminology, office workflows, CDT procedure codes, and dental insurance benefits
Proven experience preparing financial estimates, explaining patient portions, and collecting payments
Exceptional attention to detail - accuracy in scheduling, documentation, and financials is non-negotiable
Strong time management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities
A true self-starter who takes initiative, solves problems independently
Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to calmly and professionally support concerned or frustrated patients
Dependable and comfortable owning responsibilities from start to finish
Ability to build effective working relationships with patients, providers, and team members
