Full Job Description

Job Summary

Looking for a Direct Support Staff to deliver exceptional in-home and community-based care to an individual with diverse needs. The ideal candidate will support with activities of daily living, monitor behaviors, and promote independence while ensuring safety and comfort. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of the individual with developmental disabilities. Candidates should possess a strong sense of empathy, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the individual’s dignity and well-being.

Responsibilities

Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming and light housekeeping such as meal preparation, meal clean up, vacuuming to keep area clean
Following behavior plans and HIPAA regulations
Provide specialized care for an individual with autism
Maintain accurate documentation of behavior observations and care provided
Implement personalized care plans tailored to the needs
Physical ability to actively participate in community activities to assist individual in social skills activities
Contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment both in-home and community integration settings
Promote independence, learning, and positive social interaction
Collaborate with supervisor, family, staff and multidisciplinary team to adjust program plans
Maintain professional communication with supervisor, family, staff and multidisciplinary team
Ensure compliance with all clinical, ethical and confidentiality standards

Candidates should have prior experience in home & community care settings. Experience working with individuals with disabilities—including developmental disabilities, autism, and speech impairment is highly desirable. Knowledge of autism, speech impairment and behavior monitoring is preferred. A background in special needs environment is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent observation skills, compassion for neurodivergent populations, and familiarity with HIPAA regulations. Minimum 2 years experience working with neurodivergent individuals requiring specialized support such as autism or those with complex behavior needs.
