Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Quality Control Manager leads Quality Control operations to ensure products meet internal quality standards, ISO 9001:2015 requirements, customer specifications, and applicable government regulations. This role provides hands-on leadership, technical quality expertise, and cross-functional coordination in a defense manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Supervise, lead, and evaluate Quality Control staff.
Manage daily Quality Control department operations, staffing, and priorities.
Develop and maintain quality plans, inspection methods, sampling plans, and testing procedures.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and support AS9100 or equivalent standards.
Support First Article Inspections (FAI), including AS9102 submissions, validation documentation, MSA (gage R&R), CPK studies, and DOEs.
Participate in product design and print reviews with emphasis on tolerances, GD&T, and inspection strategy.
Coordinate internal and supplier audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts.
Investigate non-conformances and lead root cause and corrective action activities.
Act as liaison between Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and customers.
Prepare reports on Quality Control performance, audits, and compliance metrics.
Identify and implement improvements in inspection techniques, gaging, automation, and process controls.
Represent Quality during customer visits, audits, and failure analysis activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
Minimum 6 years of Quality Control experience, including 3 years in a management or supervisory role.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 (AS9100 experience preferred).
Background in Quality Engineering, Metrology, and GD&T.
Experience with SPC, applied statistics, DOE, and MSA (gage R&R).
Familiarity with automated inspection equipment and vision systems preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Military ordnance or defense manufacturing experience preferred.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) a plus.
