Overview
We are looking for a high-level Controller / Fractional CFO to join Meredith Vantage and work directly with both internal leadership and a portfolio of growing client companies.
This is not a back-office reporting role where you disappear into spreadsheets all day. We need someone who can walk into imperfect situations, create structure, improve visibility, help leadership make decisions, and become a trusted financial partner.
The right person has strong accounting fundamentals, understands operations, communicates well with ownership groups, and can handle multiple client environments without losing organization or composure.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial modeling
- Analyze operational and financial performance trends
- Build and improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Work directly with owners, executives, and operational leadership
- Oversee treasury, compliance, and tax coordination
- Assist clients with cleanup projects, reporting visibility, and operational finance
- Support M&A due diligence, quality of earnings, and strategic initiatives when needed
- Mentor accounting staff and help elevate financial operations across multiple organizations
- Serve as a calm, trusted financial leader during periods of growth or transition
What We’re Looking For
- CPA strongly preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Public accounting or transaction advisory experience highly preferred
- Experience as a Controller, Fractional CFO, Finance Director, or similar leadership role
- Strong understanding of GAAP and operational accounting
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and client relationships simultaneously
- Strong communication skills with both financial and non-financial leadership
- Ability to create structure in environments that are still evolving
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Experience with construction WIP, manufacturing, inventory, or project-based accounting is a major plus
- QuickBooks Online and cloud accounting experience preferred
