Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant 12 hour (Day Shift)

Compensation: Eligible for paid leave and company benefits after 90 days

Status: Full time

Hours: 12 hours shifts

Job Summary: Assist nursing staff with patients’ personal care, emotional support, and activities of daily living. More complex duties performed under supervision of professional nursing personnel.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Provides activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, toileting, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
Provides adjunct care by administering enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths; and applying restraints
Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine and recording intake and output information.
Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to the nursing supervisor.
Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements.
Maintain confidentiality by respecting the privacy and individuality of each resident while maintaining appropriate supervision and assistance where required.
Assists in transporting residents to and from activities and MD appointments
Change bed linens
Ensure that rounds are completed at the beginning and end of each shift and a minimum of every 2 hours for quality assurance
Provide comfort and encouragement with all assistance.
Maintain pleasant and professional demeanor and work ethic at all times.
Responsible for cleaning and properly storing the resident(s) personal clothing as it adheres to the laundry schedule.
Responsible for the daily cleaning of wheelchairs and walkers.
Adhere to the Employee Code of Conduct and Resident Rights

Workplace Conditions:

May experience traumatic situation including psychiatric, dismembered and deceased patients.
Staff are often exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in the long term care facility
May be asked to work in inclement weather
May be required to work in warm, cold and damp environments

Required Essential Qualifications:

Successfully completed state certification course (willing and able to provide documented evidence)
Must have and maintain reliable transportation
Must submit to and clear background check upon hire
Must have up-to-date CPR/First aid/AED certificate or be willing to acquire upon hire through company sponsored training
Must submit to and pass skills test upon hire

Essential Physical Requirements:

Ability to understand oral and written instruction.
Must be able to walk, stand, lift 50+lbs, climb stairs and sit for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift/transfer residents as needed
fine motor skills needed to operate video display terminal (VDT), frequent handwritten tasks and occasional computer usage
Required to use mechanical lifts, electronic scales, shower equipment, adjustable chairs/beds and various other equipment and supplies.
