Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Food Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining and strengthening the company’s food safety, and regulatory compliance programs. This position works collaboratively with all departments to support a strong food safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.

This is a hands-on position, with time split between office duties and monitoring production floor and warehouse/cooler operations. Responsibilities include monitoring processes, supporting employees, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring food safety standards are consistently met.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, organized, and passionate about food safety and continuous improvement.

Essential Responsibilities

Support and maintain the Approved Supplier Program and communicate with outside suppliers to ensure compliance requirements are met.
Assist the QA Manager with the food safety program validations and verifications.
Support coordination and preparation for third-party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
Assist in managing the company’s Pest Control Program.
Maintain and update product specification sheets and food safety documentation.
Accurately organize, maintain, and store required compliance records and food safety documentation.
Partner with Operations, Production, Sanitation, and Warehouse teams to ensure compliance with food safety standards and GMPs.
Conduct GMP inspections and support corrective and preventive action implementation.
Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of food safety policies, SOPs, and SSOPs.
Assist with annual food safety training to ensure employees understand company food safety policies and procedures.
Assist with customer complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Collect environmental, water, air, and product samples as required.
Monitor compliance with HACCP, SQF Standards, Organic Standards, GMPs, and internal food safety requirements.
Collaborate with management, sales, and customers to reduce product returns and complaints while implementing effective corrective actions.
Represent the company in a professional, ethical, and positive manner at all times.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the QA Manager.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in food science, Agricultural Science, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in the food manufacturing or food distribution industry preferred.
Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety systems preferred.
SQF Practitioner certification or experience is a plus.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a must.

Work Schedule & Environment

Must be flexible to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules based on business needs.
Position requires frequent walking, standing, and time spent in production and warehouse environments.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
