The Role

We are seeking a Kitchen Manager (KM) who embodies our passion for culinary excellence. The ideal candidate is highly customer-focused and dedicated to providing approachable, value-oriented "Pub Food/Beer Drinkin'" dishes from our open kitchen.

This position requires a dynamic leader with a keen sense of the brewery guest experience, who thrives in a collaborative environment, and who is dedicated to elevating the culinary team's skills. You will report directly to the Owner and lead a tight-knit Back of House (BOH) team, cooking and managing operations to serve 100 to 300+ guests daily.

What You’ll Do

Daily Operations & Staff Leadership

Assume responsibility for day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and quality standards.
Cook and directly supervise the preparation of high-quality dishes in an open kitchen setting.
Schedule, manage, mentor, and develop a BOH staff (2-3 Cooks).
Lead recruiting, training, and performance management to foster a culture of teamwork and excellence.
Ensure proper staff flow, monitor plate presentations, and uphold strict health, safety, and cleanliness standards.
Review, update, and train staff on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Financial & Inventory Management

Order products, maintain inventory, and manage vendor relationships.
Perform monthly inventory and semi-annual comprehensive recipe audits.
Oversee kitchen budgets, cost control strategies, and profitability analysis.
Goal targets: Maintain a 30% Food Cost, 30% Food Labor Cost, and 18% Total Sales Labor Cost.

Menu Development & Collaboration

Take ownership of menu planning, staying up-to-date on food trends and utilizing high-quality ingredients.
Create unique menus for Quarterly Pop-Ups, higher-end weekend specials, and diverse catering/event offerings.
Attend weekly manager meetings (Wednesdays at 12:30 PM) and collaborate across FOH, BOH, and Brewery departments.
Work closely with the Marketing and Events teams to produce impactful on-site events.

Brand Ambassador

Act as the public face of City Barrel Brewery + Kitchen's culinary program.
Collaborate on menus for charitable events and ensure the success of off-site appearances.
Represent our culinary expertise in media and public appearances.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience in kitchen management, line cooking, and team leadership.
High level of motivation, resourcefulness under pressure, and exceptional communication skills.
Ability to maintain flexible hours (averaging 45 hours/week, including weekends, nights, and events).
Physical Demands: Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and stand on your feet for 10-12 hours at a time.
