Kiln / Boiler Superintendent

- Salary: $112K–$140K + 25% Bonus

We’re looking for an experienced Kiln / Boiler Superintendent to lead kiln, boiler, and energy operations at a large industrial manufacturing facility. This is a great opportunity for someone who has developed strong technical knowledge of boiler, kiln, and energy operations and is ready to combine that experience with leadership responsibility.
This role requires someone with direct operational experience with kilns, industrial boilers, and/or plant energy systems, along with experience leading or supervising employees in an industrial environment. Must have worked closely enough with these systems to understand how they operate, recognize and troubleshoot problems, and make operating decisions, and be comfortable leading, training, and supporting the operators responsible for running them.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee daily kiln, boiler, steam, and energy/power operations
- Lead, train, and support the operators responsible for running these systems
- Monitor system performance and help identify and troubleshoot operating problems
- Make decisions during equipment issues, outages, startups/shutdowns, and other critical plant conditions
- Work closely with Maintenance and Engineering to troubleshoot equipment problems, prioritize repairs, and reduce downtime
- Oversee kiln, boiler, drying, and energy-related projects and improvements
- Improve energy efficiency, equipment reliability, and overall plant performance
- Develop and maintain operating procedures
- Monitor operating costs and look for opportunities to improve efficiency
- Ensure operations meet company safety and environmental requirements
Requirements
- 5+ years of industrial operations experience involving kilns, boilers, power generation, or plant energy/utility systems
- Direct operational knowledge of kiln, boiler, and/or energy systems & experience working through performance or equipment issues
- Experience monitoring system performance and troubleshooting operational problems, and making decisions during critical plant conditions
- Ability to make informed decisions during equipment problems, outages, startups/shutdowns, or other critical operating conditions
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices
- Experience working with Maintenance & Engineering to troubleshoot issues & coordinate repairs
- Ability to work in a safety-sensitive industrial environment and wear required PPE
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without requiring current or future employment sponsorship
Preferred Experience
- Biomass or wood-fired boiler operations
- Kilns or industrial drying systems
- Steam systems, turbines, power generation, or energy/thermal efficiency
- Wood products, lumber/sawmills, pulp & paper, biomass, or similar heavy industrial manufacturing
- Boiler chemistry and maintenance management systems
