Role Summary
The Retail Store Manager owns the day-to-day operation of our West Jordan location, with full accountability for the store's revenue, profitability, and customer experience. This is a store-opening role. You will help bring the location from buildout to grand opening, then run it: hiring and developing the team, managing inventory and merchandising across sealed product and singles, controlling cash and shrink, and building an event calendar that turns first-time visitors into regulars. You will execute company-wide promotions and product launches while developing local programming tailored to your player base.
This is a short chain of command. You will work directly with company ownership and leadership on the decisions that shape the store.
What You'll Do
Opening the store
- Partner with company leadership and the general contractor through buildout, fixture installation, and store setup.
- Recruit, hire, and train the founding store team ahead of opening.
- Stand up store systems: point of sale, inventory receiving, cash handling procedures, and opening and closing routines.
- Build the initial event calendar and opening-week programming and plan the first product allocation and floor layout.
Running the store
- Own the store's sales, profitability, and operating budget, and report results to leadership.
- Create and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, respectful environment for players of all experience levels, backgrounds, personalities, and identities.
- Resolve customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Always maintain appropriate staffing requirements for the store location, and communicate staffing needs clearly with leadership.
- Oversee the store’s employee life cycle including recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, and termination while adhering to company policy.
- Plan and run recurring events including drafts, prereleases, and organized play to drive traffic and community loyalty.
- Manage inventory across sealed product and singles: ordering, receiving, buylist and trade-in transactions, and card grading and condition assessment.
- Post and maintain accurate in-store pricing on sealed product and singles, updating listed prices as company pricing systems and release schedules dictate.
- Keep the store merchandised to company visual standards, with new releases and promotions displayed prominently.
- Coordinate inventory transfers between the store location and the primary business.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-kept facility, including the play space, restrooms, and common areas.
- Monitor daily cash flow, point-of-sale reconciliation, and loss prevention and shrink control.
- Execute company-wide sales and promotional events such as set releases and holiday promotions, and develop store-specific promotions targeted at the local player base.
- Track and report on sales performance, event attendance, and inventory metrics, and adjust store strategy accordingly.
