Full Job Description

Great River Arts seeks an administrator who is a detail-oriented and self-sufficient individual for the position of Executive Director at the GRA center, located at 122 First St. SE, in the historic district of downtown Little Falls.

Great River Arts (GRA) is a nonprofit, member-based organization, governed by a volunteer board that provides multidisciplinary art experiences in greater Minnesota. The executive director supports the president and reports directly to the board. This position is responsible for overseeing staff, contractors/vendors and volunteers delivering GRA programs and services all in conjunction with GRA staff and board.

Position Summary: Under the direction and guidance of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is the chief staff leader responsible for managing the human and financial resources of the organization to achieve the mission and goals of GRA. The Executive Director oversees fundraising and development, administration, programming, marketing, and the arts center facility.

Reports to: GRA Board of Directors

Supervises: Staff and volunteers

Hours and Salary: 40 hours/week. Exempt. $50-59,000/yr.

FUNDRAISING AND DEVELOPMENT (40%)

Grant Management - Research, write, and submit grant proposals for the organization. Implement and ensure compliance of all grants funds. Provide grant reports to the Board of Directors.
Donor Relations - Develop, strengthen, and maintain donor relationships and records.
Sponsorship - Secure corporate and local sponsorships to fund programs and operations.
Campaign Oversight - In conjunction with the Board of Directors, oversee fundraising campaigns for GRA’s annual appeal and other fundraising events.
Membership Development - Develop and coordinate annual membership drive and other membership initiatives to augment membership of the organization.
Volunteer Management - Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies. Maximize the use of volunteers to further the mission of the organization.
Strategic Partnerships - Identify, initiate, and expand partnership opportunities that advance the mission of GRA.

Administration (25%)

Daily Operations - Provide oversight to the daily work of the organization. Develop and implement needed policies and procedures.
Financial Management - Manage the annual budget by overseeing daily bookkeeping. Paying the bills of the organization. Signing contracts with vendors. Maintaining bank accounts and transactions. Ensure compliance with all grant funding and nonprofit regulations. Provide accurate reporting on financials to the Board of Directors.
Risk Management - Oversee insurance and vendor contracts.
Personnel Management - Hire, supervise, train, evaluate, and, as necessary, discipline or fire staff.
Strategic Vision - In conjunction with the Board of Directors, create, collaborate, and implement the strategic vision and mission of the organization.
Facility/Building oversight- assess and manage the needs for the building. Coordinate with contractors and Board of directors to care for the upkeep of the building.

Programming - (15%)

Programming Oversight - In conjunction with Programming Assistant, collaborate and execute mission driven programming.
Schedule Management - oversee and manage the calendar of events to ensure the facility is available for programming, performances and events.
Committee Collaboration - Work in conjunction with established committees to provide quality programming, performances, and events. Ensure committee recommendations align with the mission of the organization. Provide administrative support for organizational committees. Volunteer, Special Events,Building Maintenance, GRTV, Development and Membership.
Public Representative- Act as the public face of the organization on major organizational events, networking opportunities, and community functions.

Marketing - (15%)

Communication - Develop and steer the overall communication plan to ensure cohesive messaging and brand consistency for electronic newsletters, social media, retail vendor updates, and website content.
Material Development - design, develop, and market material related to fundraising and development efforts of the organization.
Website - Manage and update the website to ensure a user friendly experience.

Other Duties as Assigned by the Board of Directors - (5%)

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate experience.
Proven experience in nonprofit management and administration.
Demonstrated success in grant writing, fundraising, and member and donor development.
Strong communication, public speaking and relationship building skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.:
Demonstrated financial management experience.
Experience with QuickBooks Online accounting software and nonprofit fund accounting.
Knowledge of the Minnesota arts community and funding landscape.
Experience managing team performance, hiring, training, and scheduling personnel.
Willingness to push the organization forward with an open mind.
