Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Accounting Clerk to join our multi-client accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate looking to begin their career or an experienced bookkeeper who has developed strong accounting skills through hands-on experience.

Because our team provides accounting services to multiple clients across a variety of industries, the ideal candidate must be able to learn quickly, manage multiple priorities, maintain exceptional attention to detail, and work with a strong sense of urgency. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, stays organized without constant oversight, and understands the importance of accuracy and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Process accounts payable, including entering bills, coding expenses, and preparing payments
Perform accounting and financial data entry accurately and efficiently
Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
Assist with accounts receivable and customer invoicing as needed
Enter and maintain vendor and customer information
Research and help resolve transaction discrepancies
Assist with maintaining accurate general ledger records
Organize and maintain accounting documentation and supporting records
Assist senior accounting team members with month-end close activities
Complete routine accounting tasks for multiple clients while meeting established deadlines
Learn and follow client-specific accounting processes and procedures
Assist with special projects and other entry-level accounting responsibilities as assigned
Assist with basic office administrative tasks (managing incoming/outgoing mail, prepare bank deposits, run errands, other administrative duties as assigned)

Ability to quickly learn new processes, systems, and client requirements
A strong sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines
Ability to manage tasks for multiple clients and shift priorities when necessary
Strong follow-through and a willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities
Ability to identify discrepancies or information that doesn't appear correct rather than simply processing transactions
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to ask thoughtful questions
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Comfort working in a fast-paced, client-service environment

Education & Experience

We are open to candidates from either of the following backgrounds:

Recent graduates with a bachelor's or associate degree in Accounting; or
Experienced bookkeepers/accounting professionals who may not have a college degree but have demonstrated hands-on experience with bookkeeping and accounting functions.

Previous experience with accounts payable, bank reconciliations, bookkeeping, or general accounting is preferred but not required for candidates with relevant accounting education.

Experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel is a plus.

We're looking for someone who is naturally organized, notices the small details, follows through on commitments, and doesn't allow tasks to sit unnecessarily. The right person will take pride in getting things right and done on time while continuing to build their accounting knowledge and take on greater responsibility over time.

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
