Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator for our fast-paced ophthalmology Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This position is full time, Monday through Thursday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm, no call, no weekends, no holidays.

Candidates will possess an unencumbered Arkansas RN license as well as a comprehensive understanding of intraoperative nursing, patient assessment, and surgical procedures, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate care. As an RN Circulator, you will coordinate and support surgical teams during outpatient procedures, maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques, and uphold the highest standards of patient safety and comfort. You will also be crossed-trained to work in other areas of the ASC, such as preop, postop, laser procedures, and sterile processing.

This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic team-focused environment dedicated to excellence in outpatient ophthalmologic surgical care.

Responsibilities

Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and documentation are ready prior to procedures.
Act as the primary nurse responsible for coordinating patient care during outpatient surgeries, including monitoring vital signs and assessing patient status throughout the procedure.
Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection control protocols to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
Educate patients about preoperative instructions, postoperative care, and recovery expectations to promote optimal outcomes.
Document all aspects of patient care accurately.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, technicians, and administrative staff to ensure seamless surgical workflows.
Occasionally work in the preop/postop areas as needed.
Work well in a fast-paced high volume environment, while maintaining and fostering our team-oriented culture.
Cultivate team synergy and foster a high-trust atmosphere through collaborative communication and actions.
Maintain high team morale and practice proactive conflict resolution.
Ability to fully concentrate on and value others' contributions.

Requirements

Valid RN license with current state licensure; previous experience in outpatient surgery or ambulatory care preferred.
A minimum of 1 year experience circulating surgical procedure in an operating room setting.
Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile processing, and infection control practices.
Familiarity with ophthalmology procedures preferred.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation methods relevant to outpatient surgery.
