Painter – Sign Industry
Skill Level: Intermediate or expert level.
Location: Denver, Colorado
Full-Time position. Schedule: 8-hour day shift - Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime may be required.
Introduction: We are a growing 145-year-old multi-service sign company searching for a dedicated, detail oriented, and reliable painter to join our sign team. All levels of experience will be considered but prefer someone with some (several months) to significant (5+ years) sign or industrial spray painting experience. Position Summary:Responsible for the prepping and painting of industrial and commercial signage products in a timely manner, meeting industry standard and occasional special instructions for quality standards, and schedule expectations. You will work under limited supervision, following industry and regulatory safety precautions. A full-service sign company industrial spray painter role requires a person who is eager to learn, quality oriented, detail oriented, and hardworking. Most days you will be organizing your workflow for painting projects in the shop, utilizing industrial HPLV paint spraying equipment in a large industrial paint booth. Responsible areas include; Surface Preparation, Coating Application, Color Matching & Layout. This role performs inspections, clean ups, storage and disposal of paint products; and operates various preparation and paint related tools and equipment. This position is part of our fabrication team and will report to the Production Manager. The successful candidate will likely have previously worked as a painter at a sign, or related industry, company. All levels of experience will be considered, but someone with at least a year of related industrial shop spray painting experience is strongly preferred. Must have basic paint systems and type experience and familiarity, prefer a valid driver’s license (or require other very reliable transportation), and a positive attitude.
· Skills:
o Paint various metal and plastic signage components using a 2-part catalyzed acrylic paint system in a controlled environment.

o Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
o Willingness to learn and take direction with a positive attitude. If you are not an experienced sign painter, a large part of your job will be on the job learning.
o Excellent active listening and communication/ comprehension skills are required - must receive, understand, and follow detailed information through verbal and/or written communication.
o Must be able to, or be willing to quickly learn to, read and interpret various documents such as; sales documents, mechanical/electrical drawings, safety rules, work orders, procedure manuals, and related documentation.
o 100% team player – must be able and willing to work both independently and in team environment - .
· Abilities:
o Ability to use paint sanders, spray guns, primer guns, sealant guns, and buffers in a commercial shop.
o Ability to use measuring tools (exp: tape measure) and perform basic math computations.
o Extensive physical activities including, but not limited to, walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, reaching – sometimes on a repetitive basis.
o Ability to effectively work under pressure to maintain schedules with quality work. Including, willingness and ability to work outside of regular business hours if/when needed - occasional weekends and weekday overtime are dictated by client demand and company needs.
o Ability to handle work issues and resolve them while remaining positive and helpful.
o Ability to work under periodic supervision focused on the progress of work and setting priorities for job completion.
o “Can do” attitude, a strong work ethic, tenacity, and grit - .
· Qualifications:
o Preferred: A valid and current driver’s license.
o Preferred: High school or GED diploma.
o Must be able to pass background check.
o Must be able to read, write, and understand English
· Experience/Knowledge:
o Required – 1+ years of painting experience, preferably with HVLP spray guns (sign, automotive, industrial).
o Strongly Preferred - Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in the sign industry painting.
o Preferred - 2+ years of painting experience with HVLP spray guns (sign, automotive, industrial).
o Preferred - Fundamental knowledge of concepts in spray-paint procedures.
o Preferred - Demonstrated craftsman-level abilities and quality.
o Preferred - OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
· Specific – Painter role requirements only – will train, as needed:
o Duties may include masking, sanding, priming, paint mixing, painting (primarily HPLV spray), and complete paint inspections on customer-facing, sign-grade painted components.
o Selecting, mixing, & applying coating liquids to produce desired color and finish specifications.
o Operate and maintain HVLP and pressure pot spray equipment to apply paint to surfaces.
o Clean, sand, fill, and repair surfaces to prepare them for painting.
o Clean up after painting, including removing tape and supplies.
o Understand, or quickly learn, the industry standards for signage painting.
o Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all pertinent paint shop processes, paint systems, and quality standards.
o Maintain EPA / regulatory standards.
o Follow and complete work orders throughout the manufacturing process.
o Clean and maintain spray equipment and paint tools and maintain paint booth and paint areas.
o Identify shop drawing errors and discrepancies before or during early stages of paint process.
o Participate in continuing education and training opportunities offered by the company.
o Work with the Installation & Fabrication teams to create an environment of teamwork and meeting goals.
o Accurately read, follow, and interpret drawings, specifications, and directions/instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form to ensure the clients specifications are met.
o Recognizes and troubleshoots problems as they arise, alerting others regarding potential concerns, and ensures that all materials are available to support painting activities.
o Ensure all work is performed according to applicable regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and established quality standards and procedures, and notifies appropriate personnel of any deviations.
o Perform all work in accordance with and follow safety policies and uses required personal protective equipment in accordance with company and government regulations and guidelines, and established safety procedures.

· Must be comfortable handling up 20ft. long parts.
