RigidBilt is hiring skilled, dependable people to build and install steel-frame carports, garages, RV covers, barns, and other metal structures throughout Kentucky and Tennessee.

WE CANNOT TEACH WORK ETHIC, COMMON SENSE, OR PRIDE IN YOUR WORK.
Previous steel-building or metal-panel experience is NOT required.
A great carpenter, shed builder, framer, roofer, handyman, agricultural builder, maintenance technician, mechanic, fabricator, or experienced construction worker can become excellent at this job very quickly.
Our building system is straightforward to learn. If you already know how to build, measure, think, troubleshoot, and work with your hands, we can show you the tips, tricks, sequence, and techniques that will get you moving quickly.
What we need walking through the door is someone who already has building logic, common sense, precision, hustle, and the ability to figure things out.
THIS JOB IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY
This is real outdoor construction work.
Some days it is 95 degrees and blazing hot. Some mornings it is freezing cold. You may work in heat, cold, wind, mud, dust, damp conditions, sunshine, uneven terrain, and everything Kentucky and Tennessee weather can throw at you.
You WILL work from ladders and at heights.
You need to be comfortable climbing ladders repeatedly throughout the day, carrying tools, installing framing and metal panels overhead, and safely working at building height.
If you are scared of heights or uncomfortable working from a ladder, do not apply.
You will carry steel tubing and metal panels. You will use drills and impacts throughout the day. You will bend, lift, reach, climb, measure, walk, and stay moving.
You may finish the afternoon tired and dirty.
There is also not always a set quitting time.
Weather, travel, job-site conditions, and installation progress can affect the day. Some days may finish earlier and other days may run later.
We need people who understand that the day's work needs to be properly completed, not someone watching the clock all afternoon.
If you need a guaranteed quitting time every day, this probably isn't the right position.
We are looking for someone who:
- Can accurately read a tape measure
- Understands square, level, plumb, spacing, alignment, and basic building principles
- Has strong mechanical and building logic
- Is comfortable working from ladders and at heights
- Thinks ahead about what could go wrong before it becomes a problem
- Pays attention to what coworkers are doing and speaks up when something isn't right
- Looks at the entire building throughout the installation, not just the piece directly in front of them
- Notices when something doesn't look right before it becomes a bigger problem
- Can figure things out instead of immediately saying, “I don't know”
- Works accurately without moving at a snail's pace
- Hustles and keeps moving throughout the day
- Takes pride in straight panels, even screws, clean trim, square corners, and professional-looking finished work
- Keeps track of company tools and equipment
- Treats trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment like they personally paid for them
- Protects the customer's home, land, driveway, landscaping, and property
- Keeps the job site organized
- Cleans up before leaving
- Works well with a crew
- Shows up every day, on time, ready to work
Speed matters. Quality matters. Both matter are equally important.
We are not looking for someone who works fast and leaves sloppy work behind.
We are also not looking for someone who needs all day to accomplish four hours of work.

A sharp carpenter, handyman, lumber builder, roofer, mechanic, farmer, or tradesman with good construction instincts and a strong work ethic can outperform somebody with years of metal-building experience who is slow, careless, or unreliable.
WHAT YOU'LL BE BUILDING
Our crews install:
- Steel-frame carports
- Garages
- RV covers
- Equipment covers
- Barns
- Utility structures
- Metal buildings
- Custom steel-frame structures
Typical work includes:
- Unloading and organizing materials
- Laying out building dimensions
- Squaring the building footprint
- Installing base rails and anchors
- Assembling steel tubing and framing
- Installing legs, bows, braces, trusses, and structural components
- Checking measurements throughout the build
- Keeping framing square, level, and aligned
- Working from ladders
- Installing metal roof and wall panels
- Cutting and installing trim
- Installing screws consistently and professionally
- Making field adjustments when conditions require them
- Inspecting the completed building
- Cleaning the customer's property before leaving
You may also help load trucks and trailers, secure materials, tow company trailers, deliver building packages, maintain installation equipment, and keep trucks and trailers organized.
Critical thinking and problem solving are required.
Every property is different.
Concrete may not be perfectly level. The ground may slope. There may be a fence, tree, driveway, retaining wall, septic area, or another obstacle.
Something may need to be adjusted.
Measurements still have to work. Panels still have to line up. The building still has to look professional.
We need installers who can stop, think, measure, communicate, make a decision, and solve the problem.
We do not need someone who has to call the shop every time the real world doesn't exactly match the drawing.
ATTENDANCE IS A REQUIREMENT
Our customers schedule their day around our installation crews.
The other crew members are depending on you. A truck may already be loaded. A customer may have taken off work.
The entire crew suffers when one person doesn't show up.
We understand legitimate emergencies happen, but if someone regularly oversleeps, calls in, arrives late, needs to leave early, has transportation problems, or needs repeated reminders to get to work, this is not a good fit.
PAY & ADVANCEMENT
Installer Starting Pay: $20/hour + performance and completion bonuses
Higher starting pay is negotiable for the right person.
We are especially interested in finding a true foreman who can eventually be handed a company truck, trailer, tools, materials, job orders, and a helper or crew and take responsibility for getting the job completed correctly and efficiently.
A true foreman should be able to:
- Lead from the front
- Work as hard as the crew
- Read and understand job information
- Lay out and square a building
- Keep the crew productive
- Assign work intelligently
- Think several steps ahead
- Watch the entire job for quality and safety
- Catch mistakes before they become expensive
- Solve field problems
- Maintain and keep track of tools and equipment
- Protect company vehicles and property
- Communicate with management
- Treat customers professionally
- Take responsibility for the finished product
