Design Director – Key Accounts & In-House Team

Position Overview

The Design Manager is responsible for leading the in-house design team while overseeing all key client accounts. This role focuses on driving efficiency, improving workflows, and ensuring high-quality design output aligned with business goals. The Design Manager collaborates closely with sales teams to resolve challenges, guide creative direction, and strategically allocate resources based on account needs and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

Manage and mentor the in-house design team to ensure high performance and continuous growth
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team culture
Set clear expectations, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations

Design Operations & Process Improvement

Develop and implement scalable processes to increase productivity and efficiency
Identify bottlenecks and introduce workflow improvements to streamline output
Establish best practices, standards, and quality control measures

Account Oversight & Strategy

Oversee all key accounts, ensuring design deliverables meet client expectations and brand standards
Align design strategies with client goals and business objectives
Monitor account performance and adjust design resources accordingly

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with sales representatives to troubleshoot client issues and provide design solutions
Act as a key liaison between design, sales, and other internal teams
Support sales efforts with creative insights and problem-solving

Creative Direction

Provide overall design direction to ensure consistency, innovation, and quality across projects
Review and approve design work to maintain brand integrity and standards
Stay current on design trends and bring fresh ideas to the team

Resource Allocation & Planning

Allocate team resources based on account priorities, workload, and growth potential
Balance short-term demands with long-term strategic initiatives
Forecast staffing and design needs to support business expansion

Experience

Proven experience in design management or a related leadership role
Prior experience working with major retailers and high-volume accounts
Strong understanding of retail-driven design processes, timelines, and expectations
Experience in home décor, wall art, or related industries is a strong plus
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize competing demands
Experience collaborating cross-functionally with sales and client-facing teams

Preferred Skills

Experience working closely with sales or client-facing teams
Process optimization and workflow development experience
Proficiency in relevant design tools and project management systems
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Photoshop, Illustration or in design experience

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
