Full Job Description

Location: Garden City, NY and New York.

Position: Full-Time, Primarily On-Site. ( 3 days in Garden City, 2 Days in NYC) and Mandatory availability for 1–2 weekends per month.

Reports To: CEO and COO

Technical Institute of America and TIA School of Health are seeking an experienced Director of Operations & Compliance to oversee the day-to-day execution, employee accountability, productivity, and regulatory compliance of our growing education companies.

This is not a passive administrative position. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, holds employees and managers accountable, identifies problems before they reach the CEO, and makes sure the organization is operating efficiently every day.

The Director of Operations & Compliance will serve as the CEO's primary operational leader, allowing the CEO to focus on content development, instruction, marketing, product development, and growth while this position ensures the organization executes.

Primary Responsibilities

Employee Accountability & Productivity

Establish clear performance expectations and measurable KPIs for employees and departments.

Monitor attendance, punctuality, productivity, deadlines, and work quality.

Ensure remote and on-site employees are producing measurable results.

Identify underperforming employees quickly and develop corrective action plans.

Follow up on assigned work and ensure projects are completed on time.

Work with managers to document recurring performance and attendance problems.

Make recommendations regarding disciplinary action, staffing changes, and termination when necessary.

Operational Management

Oversee daily operations across Technical Institute of America and TIA School of Health.

Conduct regular meetings with department managers.

Create systems and procedures that reduce the company's dependence on the CEO for daily supervision.

Develop dashboards and reports showing employee and departmental performance.

Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions.

Ensure managers are effectively managing their employees rather than simply reporting problems to the CEO.

Provide the CEO with a concise weekly operational report covering productivity, staffing, compliance, problems, and recommended actions.

School & Regulatory Compliance

Oversee compliance requirements applicable to TIA School of Health and its educational programs.

Maintain systems to ensure required student, instructor, attendance, enrollment, academic, and administrative records are accurate and complete.

Coordinate regulatory filings, renewals, inspections, and documentation.

Conduct periodic internal compliance audits.

Maintain a compliance calendar so required filings and renewals are completed before deadlines.

Work with school administrators to ensure policies and operations remain consistent with applicable New York State requirements.

Immediately escalate significant compliance risks to the CEO.

Human Resources & Management

Work with management on hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

Maintain appropriate employee documentation.

Ensure company policies are consistently enforced.

Help establish a culture where employees understand that performance is measured by results, not simply by being present.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate has significant experience managing people and operations in a growing organization.

Candidates should be highly organized, assertive, analytical, and comfortable holding employees accountable.

Experience with education, private career schools, healthcare education, regulatory compliance, HR, or operational management is strongly preferred.

This position requires someone who can walk into an organization, understand how work is being performed, identify inefficiencies, establish measurable standards, and ensure those standards are followed.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes ownership.

When something isn't getting done, this person finds out why and fixes it.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
