Draftsperson

Sun Architectural Millwork — a division of Sun Construction & Facility Services, Inc. Longmont, CO | Full-Time, Hourly/Non-Exempt

Where your drawings become something you can touch

Sun Architectural Millwork is the in-house manufacturing division behind Sun Construction's toughest builds — custom casework, architectural woodwork, and finish millwork for advanced manufacturing facilities, laboratories, and mission-critical spaces across the Front Range. Because we design, build, and install under one roof, our Draftspeople aren't just producing drawings that sit in a folder — you'll see your CAD work turn into real product on our shop floor, often within the same week.

And Sun Construction's jobs are only part of the picture. We also work as a trusted subcontractor for dozens of other general contractors across the Front Range, which means your drawings won't just end up in our own buildings — they'll end up in projects all over the region, for clients and builders you'd never touch if you sat in-house at a single GC. Same shop, same team, a lot more variety in what crosses your desk.

What you'll do

Use CAD software to develop and produce detailed production and assembly drawings
Translate rough product designs and sketches into precise, buildable working documents
Check dimensions, materials, and part relationships to make sure every drawing fits the project as a whole
Apply your knowledge of machinery, engineering practices, and building materials to complete accurate drawings and submittal packages
Convert legacy production drawings into CAD
Review engineering drawings against specs, standards, and client requirements — and work directly with design originators to resolve any discrepancies
Keep manufacturing in the loop on new and revised prints so the shop floor is always working from the right version
Other duties as assigned based on the needs of the business

What you bring

Hands-on experience with CAD/drafting software such as Cabinet Vision, AlphaCam, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MicroVellum, or 20/20
A design background and an eye for precision
Comfort with computer programming concepts
Solid computer skills (Windows 10, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word)
A team-first mindset, sharp attention to detail, and pride in doing quality work

$25–$35 per hour, based on experience

Schedule & Location

This is an in-shop, in-person role with a set Monday–Friday schedule — you'll always know what your week looks like, and you can count on being home for dinner.
