Full Job Description

Job Overview

R&H Machine is looking for an experienced CNC / Manual Machinist to join our machine shop. We handle a wide variety of custom, repair, and production machining, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working on different types of jobs rather than running the same part every day.

The ideal candidate can take a job from a print or sample, determine the best way to machine it, set up the equipment, and produce a quality part with minimal supervision. We value practical machining experience, problem-solving ability, and quality workmanship.

Duties

Set up and operate CNC lathes and/or CNC mills
Set up and operate manual lathes and mills as needed
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, dimensions, and tolerances
Determine appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining processes
Make machine offsets and adjustments as needed to maintain tolerances
Perform CNC programming and program edits when required
Inspect your own work using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other precision measuring equipment
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup issues
Work from existing parts or samples when drawings are not available
Complete both one-off/custom jobs and production work
Maintain quality while working efficiently to complete jobs on schedule
Keep machines and work areas clean and organized
Follow shop safety procedures and properly care for machines, tooling, and equipment
Communicate with the Shop Lead or management regarding job questions, material needs, or production issues

Experience & Qualifications

Previous experience working as a machinist in a machine shop environment
Strong CNC lathe and/or CNC mill experience
Manual machining experience is highly preferred
Ability to independently set up and run machining jobs
Ability to read and understand mechanical blueprints and machining tolerances
Experience using precision measuring equipment
Understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining different materials
CNC programming and G-code knowledge preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while also being part of a shop team
Dependable with attention to quality and detail

Experience with CAD/CAM software is a plus but is not required for the right machinist.

We are looking for someone who knows how to machine parts — not just load and unload a CNC machine. If you have solid machining experience, can set up your own jobs, understand how to hold tolerances, and take pride in producing good work, we'd like to talk with you.
