Job Title: Commercial Sales Specialist – Plumbing & Spec Drainage Representative

Location: Sterling, VA (Territory Coverage: VA / MD / DC Metro Area)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000 / year (plus performance-driven bonus)

We partner with leading manufacturers like Sioux Chief and American Standard to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to commercial markets. We are expanding our team to aggressively capture new market share in the commercial sector and specification drainage market.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Commercial Sales Specialist to spearhead our commercial project pipeline and specification engineering efforts. In this role, you will be the primary driver for converting mechanical engineers, commercial contractors, and wholesalers to our product lines. Your core mission is to get our manufacturers' products specified at the engineering level and ensure those specifications hold through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Outreach: Build and maintain deep relationships with regional mechanical engineers, plumbing designers, and architects to secure primary specifications.
Project Tracking: Utilize construction tracking tools to identify, bid, and win upcoming commercial projects.
Conversion Development: Proactively identify and convert competitive accounts (wholesalers and mechanical contractors) to our partner brands.
Technical Presentation: Conduct product presentations, accredited continuing education seminars, and hands-on demonstrations for industry influencers.
Contractor Engagement: Work directly on jobsites with commercial plumbing contractors to provide technical support, submittal assistance, and labor-saving solutions.
Collaborative Strategy: Partner closely with manufacturer regional managers to execute targeted territory growth plans.

Qualifications

Experience: 3–5 years of outside sales experience within the plumbing, HVAC, or commercial building materials industry (Manufacturers' rep or distributor experience highly preferred).
Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with commercial plumbing systems, specification drainage, and architectural submittal processes.
Network: Existing relationships with local mechanical engineers, commercial contractors, and plumbing wholesalers in the territory is a major plus.
CRM & Tools: Strong CRM discipline; hands-on experience with Repfabric or Salesforce is highly useful and preferred.
Skills: Excellent presentation skills, strong technical aptitude, blueprint reading proficiency.
Travel: Ability to travel daily throughout the regional territory to visit jobsites, engineering firms, and distributor branches.
