Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Rooms Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Housekeeping and Engineering departments to ensure the hotel consistently meets the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, organization, and guest presentation. This role works closely with the Director of Rooms to maintain operational efficiency, support Front Desk coverage as needed, and deliver an exceptional guest experience throughout all areas of the property. Responsibilities include managing departmental scheduling, inventories, preventative maintenance programs, vendor coordination, and quality assurance inspections. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, service-driven, and capable of leading by example while fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork. The Rooms Manager must be proactive, adaptable, and committed to maintaining the overall condition, functionality, and elevated guest experience of the property.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee daily housekeeping and engineering operations to ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas consistently meet cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation standards.
Support Front Desk operations as needed to ensure seamless guest service and operational coverage.
Lead by example in delivering exceptional hospitality and set a high standard for professional, anticipatory, and personalized guest service across all operational departments.
Oversee the overall condition, cleanliness, functionality, and guest presentation of the property while ensuring operational efficiency.
Conduct shift briefings and communicate all pertinent operational information, VIP arrivals, guest concerns, and service priorities to team members.
Conduct daily room inspections and coordinate with Housekeeping and Engineering to ensure all guestrooms are properly cleaned, maintained, styled according to established room lookbook standards, and placed in sellable status.
Monitor room inventory, out-of-order rooms, preventative maintenance projects, and room recovery timelines to maximize operational efficiency and occupancy.
Implement, track, and manage the property’s preventative maintenance program to ensure the long-term upkeep, functionality, and presentation of guestrooms, equipment, and facilities.
Work closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor to manage daily staffing needs, productivity, scheduling, and departmental coverage. Cover positions as needed.
Create, publish, and adjust weekly schedules for Housekeeping and Engineering staff based on occupancy levels, operational demands, and business needs.
Support Front Desk staffing needs by assisting with shift coverage, scheduling gaps, meal breaks, call-outs, and overnight audit coverage as necessary.
Monitor labor productivity, time entries, overtime, and staffing levels to ensure departments operate within budgeted guidelines and business needs.
Coordinate with Engineering to address guestroom maintenance issues, emergency repairs, preventative maintenance, and ongoing property projects in a timely manner.
Ensure accurate communication between Front Office, Housekeeping, and Engineering regarding room status updates, VIP arrivals, special requests, and service priorities.
Oversee ordering, inventory management, and organization of housekeeping and engineering supplies, guest amenities, linens, minibar stock, tools, and operational equipment to ensure appropriate par levels are maintained at all times.
Submit weekly minibar inventories to Accounting, process and submit invoices to Accounts Payable in a timely manner, and conduct monthly linen inventories to ensure accurate tracking and cost control.
Review purchasing practices and supply usage to minimize waste and control operational costs.
Monitor vendor deliveries and coordinate with approved suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely receipt of operational supplies and completion of property-related work.
Conduct routine property walkthroughs and quality assurance inspections to ensure guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces consistently meet hotel standards, ensuring immediate attention to detail and presentation.
Identify operational deficiencies and implement corrective action plans to improve efficiency, presentation, and service quality.
Handle guest requests, service recovery situations, and maintenance concerns in a calm, professional, and solution-oriented manner.
Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, and service recovery trends to identify opportunities for operational and guest experience improvements.
Assist with onboarding, training, coaching, and daily performance oversight for housekeeping, public area, and operational support staff.
Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action when necessary to maintain departmental standards and accountability.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture focused on professionalism, teamwork, and guest satisfaction.
Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, safety procedures, key control policies, emergency protocols, OSHA standards, and loss prevention practices.
Maintain incident reports, maintenance logs, inspection records, and operational documentation as required.
Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and IT support as necessary to maintain operational systems and property functionality.
Monitor operational communication channels and ensure all internal requests, guest inquiries, and departmental follow-ups are addressed promptly and accurately.
Support the Director of Rooms with operational projects, departmental initiatives, inspections, budgeting support, and overall property upkeep.
Assist in any way that may be necessary to ensure the efficiency and smooth running of the Housekeeping Department. Perform additional duties as assigned that may be outside the normal scope of duties based on business needs.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
