Junior Product Manager – Astronomy Manufacturing

Celestron also develops a wide range of exciting products and technologies that enhance the science, outdoor and educational markets.

About the Role

Are you obsessed with space, telescopes, and bringing cool tech to the masses? Celestron is looking for a Junior Product Manager to support the growth of our entry and mid-level telescope categories.

In this role, you will work side-by-side with Senior Product Managers and cross-functional teams to take ideas from the drawing board to the night sky. You’ll be the ultimate coordinator—helping define products, conducting market research, handling critical documentation, and testing gear (yes, that includes actual stargazing).

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Sourcing: Coordinate with internal engineering and manufacturing partners (including vendors in Asia) to evaluate product samples, track modifications, and ensure quality standards.
Market Research: Conduct competitive analysis, track industry trends, evaluate rival products, and recommend new features or pricing strategies.
Project Coordination: Own the timeline. Keep Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and QA aligned so product launches hit their targets without delays.
Documentation & Content: Author user-facing materials including instruction manuals, Quick Start Guides, and FAQs. Assist with product setups in SAP and provide accurate technical specs for marketing channels.
Testing & Events: Conduct hands-on outdoor product testing, maintain the sample inventory, and occasionally represent Celestron at trade shows and product demonstrations.

Work Environment & Travel

Hybrid Setup: Primarily remote, but requires a routine presence at our main office for collaboration and physical product management.
The Fun Stuff: Includes outdoor product testing.
Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel for trade shows and supplier visits to Asia.

What We Are Looking ForRequirements:

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a Junior Product Manager capacity, specifically within consumer goods.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred.
Domain Passion: A genuine interest in astronomy, telescopes, and optical equipment, with a drive to become a subject-matter expert.
Skills: Exceptional technical writing skills (for manuals and guides) and strong cross-functional communication habits.
Tech Literacy: Proficiency with standard office software (Word, Excel, Teams).

Bonus Points If You Have:

Prior experience in the astronomy, sports optics, or microscope industries.
Experience launching products for mass-market retail channels.
Familiarity with product compliance standards or SAP.
Experience leveraging AI tools to optimize workflows.

Attention to Detail: You double-check packaging artwork and manuals for accuracy before they hit mass production.

Collaboration: You easily bridge the gap between technical engineering teams and creative marketing departments.

*** Compensation Range: $70,000 - $90,000 yearly, based on experience.
