Full Job Description

We are a fast-paced, client-focused personal injury law firm committed to maximizing our clients' recoveries through exceptional legal service. We are seeking an experienced, organized, and proactive Personal Injury Lien Reduction Negotiator to join our team. The ideal candidate has experience negotiating medical and statutory liens, preparing settlement disbursements, and communicating effectively with clients and lien holders.

Key Responsibilities

Negotiate medical provider liens, attorney fee liens, subrogation liens, Workers' Compensation liens, Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, child support liens, and other statutory liens to maximize clients' net recoveries.
Negotiate reductions or waivers of Med-Pay reimbursement claims.
Open and manage Medicare and Medi-Cal claims throughout the settlement process.
Verify the existence and accuracy of all outstanding liens, medical bills, fees, and case-related costs.
Obtain itemized bills, lien information, payoff statements, and supporting documentation from medical providers and lien holders.
Compile and tabulate all client costs, medical expenses, liens, and attorney fees.
Prepare detailed settlement disbursement spreadsheets outlining attorney's fees, litigation costs, medical bills, lien payments, and the client's final recovery.
Coordinate with attorneys, accounting, case managers, medical providers, insurance companies, and lien holders to ensure timely resolution of all settlement-related matters.
Communicate with clients regarding settlement status, lien negotiations, disbursement calculations, and final settlement proceeds.
Resolve issues that arise before and during the settlement and disbursement process.
Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in the firm's case management system.
Perform other administrative and ad hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

Previous experience as a Personal Injury Lien Negotiator, Settlement Coordinator, or similar role in a personal injury law firm is strongly preferred.
Experience negotiating Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, ERISA, Workers' Compensation, Med-Pay, medical provider, and subrogation liens.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading abilities.
Outstanding negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate professionally with clients, providers, insurance companies, and attorneys.
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
Ability to follow instructions while working independently and collaboratively.
Professional, dependable, punctual, respectful, and team-oriented.
Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC is required, as we are a fully paperless office.
Experience monitoring emails throughout the day and responding promptly while following office procedures and deadlines.
Bilingual in Spanish or Tagalog (Filipino) is a plus.
