Medical Scribe – Urology

Los Angeles, CA | Full-Time | On-Site

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Folio Clinical Research is recruiting on behalf of a partner urology practice in Los Angeles. This is a clinical practice position based in the practice’s Los Angeles office. All applications and inquiries are handled by Folio’s recruiting team.

The practice is an established, physician-led urology group with a high-volume clinic and subspecialty depth across urologic oncology, men’s health, and general urology. The team includes multiple physicians, physician assistants, and medical assistants working closely together in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Medical Scribe works directly alongside the physician throughout the clinic day, documenting patient encounters in real time and managing the documentation workflow that follows. This is a documentation and administrative support role — it does not include hands-on clinical tasks.

This position suits someone with genuine medical knowledge and a serious interest in clinical care. You will be in the room for every encounter, charting histories, exam findings, and treatment plans as they happen, then carrying that work through to sign-off. Training is provided directly by the practice’s physician assistants and by the physician you support, which means close daily access to experienced clinicians.

The pace is high and the clinical material is substantive. Physicians move quickly and expect the scribe to keep up, ask good questions, and take initiative rather than wait for direction. For the right person, there is meaningful room to take on additional responsibility over time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Documentation

Accompany the physician into patient rooms and document each encounter in real time, including history, exam findings, assessment, and plan
Gather relevant patient history and visit context before the physician enters the room, so each visit begins oriented
Chart treatment plans and follow-up recommendations accurately; ask the physician or physician assistant for clarification whenever documentation is unclear
Review laboratory results and imaging alongside the physician and update the patient chart accordingly
Document in-office procedures as they are performed
Complete charting in a timely manner and route completed notes for physician review and sign-off

Communication & Coordination

Communicate ordered laboratory work, imaging, and workups clearly to the medical assistant team
Manage the patient message and email queue; respond promptly and escalate clinical questions appropriately
Respond promptly to messages from physicians, physician assistants, and clinic staff
Support patient requests and needs wherever possible

Compliance & Quality

Maintain strict HIPAA compliance at all times
Produce documentation that is accurate, complete, and timely, consistent with practice standards

Growth Opportunities

Introduced after onboarding, as experience develops:

Coordinating and scheduling peer-to-peer reviews with insurers on behalf of the physician or physician assistant
Additional scope over time based on demonstrated capability and interest

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong command of medical terminology. This is essential — documentation is not usable without it.
Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Minimum one year of experience as a medical scribe or in a clinical documentation role
Proficiency with electronic health record systems and the ability to learn CGM CLINICAL (CompuGroup Medical)
Fast, accurate typing with the ability to document at conversational speed
Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment where priorities shift
Initiative and the ability to troubleshoot independently rather than waiting for direction
Professional, collaborative, and respectful in working with physicians, physician assistants, medical assistants, and patients
Able to work on-site in Los Angeles, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a science or health-related field, or substantial coursework in anatomy, physiology, or medical terminology
Scribe experience in urology, oncology, or another procedural specialty
Interest in a longer-term clinical career — medicine, physician assistant practice, or a related path
Experience managing patient messaging or a clinical inbox
Familiarity with insurance authorization or peer-to-peer review workflows
