Certified Physician Assistant

Practice: Ethos Neuroscience Institute

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Reports to: Attending Neurosurgeon / Practice Leadership

About the Practice

Ethos Neuroscience Institute is a subspecialty neurosurgical practice providing advanced care in neuroendovascular surgery, complex skull base surgery, cerebrovascular disease, stroke, Spine, brain tumors, stroke neurology, general neurology. Our physician assistants work across the full continuum of care—inpatient, outpatient clinic, and the operating room—as integral members of a high-acuity team.

Position Summary

We are seeking a certified Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive care to neuroscience patients in both hospital and clinic settings, with first-assist and perioperative responsibilities in the operating room. The ideal candidate is a self-directed clinician comfortable managing acutely ill neuroscience patients, coordinating across a multidisciplinary stroke and neuroscience service line, and supporting surgical cases from pre-op through post-op recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Hospital / Inpatient

Round on and manage neurosurgical inpatients, including ICU/neuro-critical care, step-down, and floor patients, in coordination with the attending surgeon
Perform histories and physicals, daily progress notes, admission and discharge documentation, and coordinate discharge planning
Respond to consults, evaluate acute presentations (e.g., intracranial hemorrhage, stroke, elevated ICP), and initiate appropriate workup and management under close physician supervision
Perform and manage bedside procedures within scope (e.g., wound care, suture/staple removal, drain and line management, lumbar puncture as credentialed)

Operating Room / Surgical

Serve as first or second assist for neurosurgical procedures as needed
Provide perioperative management including pre-operative clearance review, surgical consent support, and immediate post-operative care

Clinic / Outpatient

Independently evaluate new and follow-up patients in the outpatient neurosurgery clinic
Develop and document assessment and treatment plans, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and manage post-operative follow-up
Counsel patients and families on diagnoses, surgical options, and recovery expectations
Support new-patient intake, referral coordination, and continuity of care

Administrative / Team

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
Communicate effectively with referring providers, care teams, and support staff
Participate in quality initiatives, credentialing requirements, and service-line development as needed

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)
Active (or eligibility for) California Physician Assistant license
Current BLS and ACLS certification (NIHSS certification preferred or obtained on hire)
DEA registration (or eligibility)
Ability to obtain hospital privileges and credentialing at affiliated facilities
Language- Korean

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in neurosurgery, neurology, neuro-critical care, or a surgical subspecialty
Operating room / first-assist experience
Comfort with EHR documentation

Skills & Competencies

Strong clinical judgment in high-acuity, time-sensitive settings
Excellent surgical technical skills and OR situational awareness
Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with attending surgeons
Availability for a call/coverage schedule consistent with an active surgical practice
