Job description: Walnut Processing Operator / Production Technician
We are a walnut shelling and processing operation seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to join our team. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced agricultural processing environment where you will learn and operate equipment across the full walnut processing workflow.
Position Overview
As a Walnut Processing Operator, you will start with forklift and material handling duties and quickly progress into operating specialized equipment through structured, on-the-job training. The role involves multiple stages of walnut processing—from receiving raw product through final preparation for shipment. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming walnut loads
- Operate hulling, drying, and mechanical shelling equipment
- Run sizing and aspiration systems for initial sorting
- Operate advanced electronic sorting systems utilizing cameras, lasers, and hyperspectral technology
- Handle storage operations including pest control and fumigation procedures
- Perform equipment and facility maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation tasks
- Monitor inventory and support process control measures
- Prepare finished product for pasteurization and shipment
- Follow all safety protocols and quality standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 1+ year of forklift experience required
- Previous equipment operation or mechanical aptitude is a strong plus
- Ability and willingness to learn new technical skills (specialized equipment training provided within the first few weeks)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Comfortable with physically demanding work (standing, lifting, bending, exposure to dust and outdoor elements)
- Basic English communication skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment and take direction
