POSITION SUMMARY

The Press Brake Operator plays a vital role in the metal fabrication process, responsible for operating and setting up press brake machines to bend, shape, and fabricate metal components accurately in accordance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.

This role involves interpreting blueprints, adjusting machine settings, and ensuring parts meet quality standards. The operator will also monitor the bending process to ensure precision and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Additionally, the position requires performing routine maintenance on machines, adhering to safety protocols, and optimizing material usage to reduce waste and enhance productivity. The Press Brake Operator will work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals while maintaining high standards of quality and safety..

COMPETENCIES

● Technical Proficiency: Understanding of press brake machine operation, setup, and adjustments, as well as familiarity with relevant CAD/CAM software for programming and tooling.

● Attention to Detail: Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately, ensuring precise bends, shapes, and dimensions are achieved during the fabrication process.

● Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying and resolving issues during the bending process, such as material inconsistencies or machine malfunctions, to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production.

● Mechanical Aptitude: Knowledge of press brake machinery, including its operation, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting techniques.

● Safety Awareness: Strict adherence to press brake safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment.

● Quality Control: Consistently checks and ensures that finished parts meet the required dimensional, tolerances, and visual quality standards to maintain high-quality production.

● Communication Skills: Capable of effectively communicating with engineers, programmers, team members, and supervisors to ensure production goals and quality standards are met.

● Time Management: Efficiently manages workload and time to meet job schedules, production targets, and deadlines, ensuring timely completion of tasks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

● High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in press brake operation, CNC programming, or a related field preferred.

● Minimum of 2 years of experience operating press brake machines, with a solid understanding of bending processes and machine operation.

● Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics

● Familiarity with CNC press brake machines and controls (e.g., AMADA, Trumpf, Bystronic, or similar brands) preferred.

● Experience working with a variety of metals and materials, including steel, aluminum, and other alloys.

● Knowledge of bending parameters, tooling selection, and setup procedures is a plus.

● Familiarity with quality control standards and dimensional measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) is beneficial.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

● Ability to remain standing for long periods while performing job duties.

● Strong hand-eye coordination required to operate press brake machinery and computer systems.

● Must be able to safely lift and handle materials or tools weighing up to 50 pounds.

● Good vision is required to inspect detailed parts and interpret technical drawings accurately.

● Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature changes.

● Must follow all OSHA safety requirements and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including any COVID-19-related gear.
