Summary of Position:
This position under the supervision of the Accounting Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As our Accounting Clerk, you will keep our financial wheels turning. You will manage high-volume transactions ranging from daily passenger fare reconciliations to major fleet maintenance invoices.
- Reconcile Fare Revenue: Validate daily cash and mobile app revenues against system logs to ensure every cent is accounted for.
- Fuel & Fleet Accounts Payable: Process high-volume purchase orders and vendor invoices for fuel, vehicle parts, and specialized transit equipment.
- Grant & Funding Tracking: Code and track expenditures tied to federal, state, and local transit grants (such as FTA funding) with total accuracy.
- Support Federal Compliance: Maintain and organize the daily financial data required for our mandatory National Transit Database (NTD) filings.
- Audit Readiness: Keep immaculate digital and physical financial trails to ensure seamless municipal and state audits.

Qualification Requirements:

- Tech Savvy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and the ability to adapt to specialized transit management software.

- Integrity: A strong commitment to public transparency, internal controls, and ethical financial practices.
- Professional: Be enthusiastic, self-motivated and work with public and employees in a professional manner.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Experience: 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting clerk experience (experience in public sector, municipal government, or logistics is a major plus).
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
