Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a warm, welcoming environment while managing a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks. Your energetic approach will help streamline daily operations, facilitate effective communication, and uphold the highest standards of patient care and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, excellent customer service abilities, and experience working within medical office settings. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic healthcare environment while developing your professional skills.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service at the front desk.
Schedule patient appointments efficiently using electronic scheduling systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems including EMR/EHR management platforms like eClinicalWorks or Meditech to ensure precise documentation review and data entry.
Assist with medical coding tasks, including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding for accurate billing and recordkeeping.
Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
Answer phone calls professionally, triage patient inquiries, and coordinate communication between providers and patients.
Support clinic operations by managing filing systems, processing medical records requests, and handling general clerical duties such as typing reports and updating documentation.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate care plans and ensure smooth clinic workflows.
Stay current with health insurance knowledge including Medicare procedures and health information management practices.

Skills

Proven experience in medical office administration or clinic support roles with familiarity in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing processes.
Knowledge of health insurance protocols including Medicare procedures and HIPAA compliance.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone etiquette and in person.
Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and administrative tasks.
Demonstrated clerical experience such as filing, data entry, appointment scheduling, and office management in a healthcare setting.
Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Experience working in dental clinics or other specialty clinics is a plus but not required.
