Full Job Description

Company Overview
Energy Services, Inc. is dedicated to supporting limited-income families by providing essential services and assistance to prevent energy-related emergencies and promote long-term self-sufficiency. Through strategic partnerships with local providers, we work tirelessly to ensure families can stay safely in their homes and access vital resources.

Summary:

The Fiscal Manager oversees all finance-related activities and provides support for various administrative tasks. The Fiscal Manager is responsible for overseeing general accounting and financial reporting, maintaining sound accounting policies and internal controls, and completing the monthly close process accurately and timely. Works at the direction of the Executive Director or their designee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversees the general accounting function and daily operations, including:

Completion of a monthly close cycle to expected timelines

Review of all balance sheet account reconciliations

Daily processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable

Tracking of all funding sources

Providing month-end financial statements to the executive leadership team as requested

Ensures cost allocations are maintained in compliance with company policies, GAAP, and external contractual requirements.

Prepares and submits accurate and timely financial reports to the Executive Director and to all agency funding sources.

Compliance and Audit:

Ensures that the company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies, GAAP, and external contractual requirements.

Maintains internal controls over all systems that support the primary accounting system and keeps sub-ledgers in balance.

Annually reviews the Fiscal Procedure Manual and Cost Allocation Plan. Prepares recommendations for approval to the Executive Director or their designee.

Coordinates annual financial audit and associated annual financial statements.

Coordinates all record requests for compliance audits/desktop monitoring reviews and completes within the timelines provided.

Operational Support:

Provides support to annual budget process with the Executive Director or their designee for Board presentation.

Partners with program managers and special events team for financial matters.

Responsible for the off-site storage of confidential organization records and for the organization’s records retention policy.

Coordinates the annual Worker’s Compensation audit, and any insurance or other external audit.

Oversees the management of all leases, contracts, and other financial commitments.

Other:

Proactively looks for process and systems improvements or ways to automate/streamline work flows. Discusses with Executive Director or their designee before implementation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises accounting staff, manages performance, and provides development opportunities for growth

Directs daily work within team and ensures there is adequate back-up for all critical tasks

Remains accountable for positive atmosphere within the team and within the organization, so the team is viewed as a valuable resource to employees and managers.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred but will substitute work experience for degree. Minimum of 5 years of accounting-related experience, non-profit experience is preferred.

Exceptional people skills and strong organizational skills.

Works well in a team management model.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.

Solid understanding of non-profit reporting and government grant auditing, cost allocation policies, and government cost principles.

Strong attention to detail, positive communication skills, and ability to adapt to changing environments are required.

Computer knowledge including Microsoft office software and HRIS systems.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
