Full Job Description

Technical Service Advisor

Ready to be the go-to technical expert who helps contractors solve problems faster, install systems right the first time, and grow their businesses with high-efficiency HVAC solutions? K & E Distributing, based in Dallas Center, IA, is seeking a skilled Technical Service Advisor to join our expanding wholesale distribution team.

Since 1969, K & E Distributing has led the way in designing and supporting cutting-edge heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems from our locations in central Iowa and central Missouri. Now, we’re aggressively growing our presence into the territories we serve. We need strong technical partners like you to support our Northern Territories, including the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Northern Illinois.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Provide expert technical support by phone, email, and video to dealers, contractors, and internal sales teams on installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and application of residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
Diagnose and resolve equipment issues involving heat pumps, air conditioners, furnaces, ductless systems, controls, and related accessories—guiding customers through wiring diagrams, sequence of operation, and manufacturer specifications.
Conduct on-site job visits when needed to support startups, complex troubleshooting, or system performance issues.
Develop and deliver technical training for dealers, contractors, and internal team members at our learning center and in the field—covering product knowledge, best practices, new technologies, and proper installation techniques.
Support the sales team with technical recommendations for system selection, sizing, matching, and application to help close more high-efficiency projects.
Act as a liaison between customers, K & E, and manufacturers on technical issues, warranty claims, and product feedback.
Maintain deep, current knowledge of our product lines and stay ahead of industry trends, codes, and emerging technologies through ongoing manufacturer training and self-development.
Represent K & E at trade shows, training events, and networking opportunities that strengthen our brand and technical reputation.

Requirements

Proven hands-on experience in HVAC installation, service, or technical support (typically 3–5+ years).
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to read wiring diagrams, interpret sequence of operation, and guide others clearly over the phone and in person.
Proficient in computer systems and software
Solid working knowledge of residential and light commercial heating, cooling, heat pumps, controls, and related systems. EPA certification preferred.
Excellent communication and customer service skills—able to explain technical concepts to both experienced technicians and less technical audiences.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the territory for job-site support and training as needed.
Bonus: Experience with manufacturer training programs, NATE certification, or prior distributor technical support experience is a plus.
