What would a typical day look like?
At a very broad scope, you’ll spend your time working in high-end homes and commercial businesses to install (and sometimes service) the latest in Audio/Video, Home Theaters, and other automation technology as Home Systems Integration Technician at Tucker & Tucker.
Your day-to-day work will look very different (only one small part of what makes this role so exciting)! In the beginning of the week, running low voltage wire at a new construction home. By the end of the week, you might have worked on several projects installing state of the art electronics.
At a more granular level, your days will consist of the following:
- Installing (and sometimes troubleshooting) of audio/visual, basic networking, and automation equipment in residential and commercial locations
- Installing and programming lighting, electronic shades, home control systems, A/V Receivers, TV’s and Remote Controls
- Programming lighting and control systems
- Training clients on how to utilize their systems
- Selling and upgrading client equipment as appropriate
Whether you’re doing installation or service, you’ll provide detailed documentation of your work so that anyone on the team can pick up where you left off.
If we’re lucky, your daily work will be planned and structured. However, priorities can shift at a moment’s notice. You must be comfortable with shifting focus and willing to be an active participant in juggling multiple demands. It’s likely time to invest in a good pair of running shoes, if you have not already. Pivoting efficiently is the name of the game.
When the client is ready to use their technology for the first time, you’ll train them and answer all their questions. Providing exceptional client service is something that we pride ourselves on, so you will be expected to treat all of our clients with the greatest of care and respect at all times. While our line of work is dynamic and ever-changing, our standards for client service will never waver.
