Full Job Description

We are a growing precision CNC machine shop located in Stoneham, Massachusetts, serving the medical, aerospace, defense, and technology industries.

We are looking for a CNC Setup Machinist to join our production team. This role is focused on CNC milling setups, repeat jobs, part inspection, documentation, and learning company-specific setup processes.

Responsibilities

Set up and run CNC milling machines for production jobs.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, setup notes, travelers, and work instructions.
Load programs, set tools, touch off tools, set work offsets, and verify setups.
Install tooling, fixtures, and workpieces accurately.
Inspect parts during setup and production using precision measuring tools.
Work to tight tolerances, including +/-.001 or tighter when required.
Troubleshoot setup, tooling, machine operation, or part-quality issues.
Communicate setup issues, tooling needs, inspection concerns, production problems, or unclear instructions.
Work with experienced team members on routine jobs, repeat setups, prove-outs, and company-specific processes.
Keep work areas organized and follow shop safety, quality, and documentation procedures.

Qualifications

2+ years of CNC milling setup experience; 2–5 years preferred.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and tolerances.
Experience inspecting parts and confirming work meets print requirements.
Strong attention to detail, good time management, and organization.
Self-starter who can work independently after proper instruction.
Able to follow written work instructions, setup sheets, tooling notes, and digital work instructions.
Experience with Haas and/or Fanuc machine controls preferred.
Ability to work with tolerances of +/-.001 or tighter.
Comfortable using computers to access programs, setup documentation, production information, and shop systems.
CAD/CAM experience preferred.

Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
