Full Job Description

Overview

We are a high-end residential general contractor specializing in custom luxury homes in Malibu. We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to manage all aspects of field operations from project start through completion.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with exceptional organizational skills, strong construction knowledge, and experience managing custom residential projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Manage all day-to-day jobsite operations.
Open and secure the jobsite daily.
Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and secure work environment.
Ensure quality workmanship throughout all phases of construction.
Coordinate and supervise in-house crews and subcontractors.
Develop and maintain project schedules.
Coordinate inspections and meetings with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and City of Malibu agencies.
Communicate regularly with homeowners and attend weekly Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings.
Read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, civil, landscape, pool, septic, and solar plans.
Review shop drawings and prepare RFIs and submittals.
Schedule subcontractors, inspections, deliveries, and utility companies.
Prepare daily logs, weekly progress reports, project photos, and look-ahead schedules.
Perform material takeoffs and procure project materials.
Solicit, review, and award subcontractor bids.
Develop trade scopes of work.
Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, change orders, contract administration, and invoice management.
Maintain professional relationships with clients, neighbors, consultants, inspectors, and vendors.
Respond promptly to project emails, phone calls, and text messages.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience as a Superintendent managing custom residential construction.
Experience overseeing luxury custom homes preferred.
Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, and California building codes.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and scheduling abilities.
Experience coordinating multiple trades simultaneously.
Comfortable working directly with homeowners, architects, and design professionals.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with luxury homes valued at $5M+.
Familiarity with Malibu permitting and inspection processes.
Experience with Microsoft Office
