Press Mechanical specializes in commercial plumbing, HVAC, and underground utility construction for government, healthcare, education, industrial, multifamily, and commercial projects. Press Services is the residential and service division, providing residential plumbing, light commercial plumbing, underground utilities, water and sewer line repairs, camera inspections, and maintenance services throughout Northern Virginia.

Position Overview

Press Mechanical Contractors is seeking an experienced Lead Commercial Plumber to join our growing team.

This position is primarily responsible for commercial plumbing installations and underground utility work, including underground piping, rough-in, top-out, finish, equipment installation, and underground infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled commercial plumber who can lead crews, mentor apprentices, and work independently while maintaining exceptional quality and productivity.

The successful candidate will also assist Press Services with residential and light commercial plumbing projects as business needs require, including service work, water heaters, sewer and water line repairs, fixture replacements, and customer-facing projects.

Responsibilities

Install commercial plumbing systems for new construction and renovation projects.
Perform all phases of commercial plumbing, including:
Underground utilities
Underground sanitary and storm piping
Domestic water systems
Natural gas piping
Rough-in
Top-out
Finish work
Equipment installation
Testing and commissioning
Install underground infrastructure including grease interceptors, manholes, drainage systems, and water and sewer utilities.
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
Lead and coordinate field crews while maintaining production schedules and quality standards.
Mentor apprentices and less experienced plumbers.
Coordinate work with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades.
Perform plumbing service, repairs, and installations for residential and light commercial customers as needed.
Troubleshoot plumbing systems and diagnose service issues.
Perform sewer camera inspections and underground diagnostics.
Ensure compliance with plumbing codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety standards.
Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, and fellow team members.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of commercial plumbing experience
Experience leading plumbing crews or serving as a lead plumber
Comprehensive knowledge of commercial plumbing systems
Experience with:
Underground utilities
Underground piping
Rough-in
Top-out
Finish work
Equipment installation
Residential plumbing experience, including service and repair
Ability to read blueprints and specifications
Strong troubleshooting skills
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Strong communication and leadership abilities
Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

Journeyman or Master Plumber license
Experience with sewer camera inspections
Experience with underground utility construction
Experience installing grease interceptors and storm drainage systems
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
Experience working throughout the DMV market
