Full Job Description

Job Overview

The Finance Leader is responsible for the full financial management of the medical group, including financial reporting, accounts payable, cash management, and revenue cycle oversight through direct supervision of the Billing team. This role serves as the primary financial advisor to the COO and CEO/Owner, translating financial data into actionable insights that support sound operational and strategic decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis
Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements
Develop and maintain provider productivity reports (visit volume, collections per provider) for management review per facility/business unit
Coordinate with external tax firm by compiling and delivering all required documentation for tax returns and compliance filings

Revenue Cycle Management

Directly supervise the Billing team (2 FTEs)
Monitor key Revenue metrics
Coordinate with the Operations Manager to ensure front-office errors impacting billing (incorrect insurance, incomplete intake) are identified and corrected
Evaluate payer contract performance and flag reimbursement trends or anomalies to leadership

Accounts Payable & Cash Management

Manage accounts payable cycle including invoice review, approval routing, and timely vendor payment
Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and cash deposit reconciliations
Maintain vendor records, payment terms, and W-9 and 480 files in compliance with IRS and Hacienda PR requirements

Internal Controls & Compliance

Maintain and enforce financial internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure segregation of duties
Coordinate with external auditors and accountants during annual reviews
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state financial regulations relevant to healthcare entities
Identify and escalate financial risk, unusual transactions, or policy non-compliance to the COO

Cross-Functional Support

Support Operations and HR on financial aspects of projects, initiatives, and vendor contract evaluations
Partner with IT contractor on system integrations affecting financial data flows (EHR, billing platform, payroll system)

Requirements

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience; healthcare or medical practice experience strongly preferred
Prior supervisory experience required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong command of GAAP accounting principles and financial statement preparation
Experience managing revenue cycle functions or working closely with billing teams in a healthcare setting
Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, or equivalent); experience with EHR-integrated billing platforms a plus
Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, financial modeling
High analytical aptitude — ability to identify trends, variances, and anomalies in financial data
Strong communication skills; ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial executives
Integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information

Preferred

Experience with multi-location or multi-entity medical group financials
Familiarity with Puerto Rico tax regulations and compliance requirements
Experience coordinating with Hacienda (PR Treasury) and applicable local reporting requirements
Knowledge of healthcare-specific accounting considerations (capitation, fee-for-service, value-based arrangements)
