Full Job Description

Champion Industrial is a premier heavy mechanical trade company based in Modesto, CA, specializing in commercial and industrial mechanical service, repair, and maintenance. As a union-based organization, we are committed to excellence in service delivery, safety, and customer satisfaction. Our team of highly skilled service professionals delivers responsive, high-quality mechanical solutions for our commercial and industrial clients. We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and manage our Service Department, overseeing service contracts, repair work, and maintenance programs from scheduling through completion. The ideal candidate has 3-5+ years of project management experience in mechanical service, repair, or industrial maintenance, a strong understanding of union labor coordination, and a track record of successfully managing multiple concurrent service jobs and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Service Oversight & Execution

Manage multiple concurrent service, repair, and maintenance jobs simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and client satisfaction.
Develop and implement service schedules, work order plans, and response timelines to meet client and company objectives.
Coordinate scope of work, service agreements, and contract terms for repair and maintenance jobs.
Identify potential service delays or field issues, troubleshoot challenges, and provide practical, timely solutions.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and contractual obligations on all service work.

Budgeting, Cost Control & Resource Allocation

Develop and manage service job budgets, cost estimates, and billing/financial reports.
Track labor hours, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs across active service jobs.
Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality, safety, or response time.
Forecast financial impacts and proactively adjust job plans to maintain profitability on service contracts.

Team Leadership & Union Labor Coordination

Lead and direct union service technicians, ensuring productivity and adherence to labor agreements.
Work closely with service supervisors, foremen, and technicians to ensure smooth day-to-day execution.
Maintain strong relationships with trade unions, vendors, and suppliers.
Ensure all labor activities comply with union regulations and company policies.

Client Relations & Communication

Serve as the primary point of contact for service clients, technicians, and internal teams.
Maintain regular communication and reporting with senior management on service department performance.
Conduct client check-ins, service reviews, and site visits to assess job status and address concerns.
Negotiate and manage service agreements, change orders, and scope modifications.

Technical & Compliance Expertise

Ensure all service and repair work complies with local, state, and federal mechanical codes.
Oversee permitting, licensing, and inspection processes as required for service work.
Utilize project/service management software and technology to track work orders, dispatch, and documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

3-5+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Service Manager in the mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or industrial service/maintenance sector.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, service and repair work, and union labor practices.
Proven experience managing multiple concurrent service jobs and client accounts.
Strong expertise in budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.
Proficiency in project/service management software, scheduling and dispatch tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven service environment.
