Admiral Instruments is searching for a full-time Electronics Production Technician with component-level troubleshooting and fine-pitch soldering experience. Your efforts will directly benefit thousands of our customers comprised of engineers and scientists in over 40 countries who use our instruments to manufacture or study cutting-edge advances in batteries, fuel cells, photovoltaics, sensors, corrosion mitigation, and more.
The top two responsibilities of this role are as follows:
#1 is to assist with calibration, quality control, and organizational tasks throughout our entire production process
#2 is to troubleshoot and repair PCB assemblies down to the component level when failures are observed during production or by customers
Here are some other duties you'll have as they relate to these two core responsibilities:
- Run computer programs designed to calibrate and quality check our instruments during the production process
- Use electronic instruments, for example oscilloscopes, multimeters, and thermal cameras, to trace circuits and identify component failures
- Use soldering tools to install, modify, and test fine-pitch electronic assemblies by following vendor schematics and internally-developed procedures
- Assist in the design and assembly of cable harnesses
- Help write and maintain assembly procedures, digital travelers, and process flow charts
- Maintain a clean, well-organized workshop and warehouse space

- Annual base pay ranges from $40,000 to $60,000, depending on experience

Who We're Seeking:
- Associate’s degree or higher in an Electronics-related field (or equivalent technical experience)
- Extensive troubleshooting experience of PCB assemblies down to the component level
- Aptitude for efficient and precise fine-pitch soldering
- Proficiency using hand tools (wire cutters/strippers, screwdrivers, pliers, etc)
- High level of attention to detail and a proven ability to manage an organized workspace

- Strong written and verbal communication skills geared towards technical audiences
- Well-practiced and knowledgeable about ESD protection procedures
Nice-To-Haves:
- 5+ years of soldering experience outside of school
- Candidates with IPC certification and/or similar soldering-specific credentials will receive priority
- Ability to use CAD programs such as KiCad to review schematics and PCB layouts
- Comfortable working with computer programs, especially Microsoft Office
- Candidates demonstrating talent in engineering design will also have an opportunity to apply those skills with our hardware R&D team
