Full Job Description

Front Desk Medical Receptionist

Avenue Health is seeking a full-time, dedicated, and personable Medical Receptionist to join our growing primary care practice in Okemos. Located next to the new Sparrow Emergency Center, our office provides a welcoming environment for both patients and staff.

What You'll Do:

Greet and check in/out patients
Answer and manage multi-line phone calls
Manage and prioritize assigned inbox messages, patient portal communications, and patient specific tasks to ensure timely follow-up and resolution
Schedule appointments accurately and manage provider schedules
Verify patient demographics and insurance information
Process patient paperwork and electronic forms
Utilize EMR systems for patient documentation and communication
Collect copays, balances, and other patient payments
Process supplement store purchases, compounded medication and treatment services transactions
Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, forms, and office services
Maintain accurate records and ensure smooth front desk operations
Provide outstanding customer service to patients and visitors

Qualifications:

Prior experience in a medical office preferred
Experience with EMR systems strongly preferred, Athena specifically
Strong computer and organizational skills
Comfortable answering multi-line phones
Cash handling and payment processing experience preferred
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
