Full Job Description

Background

The company seeks a person to fill the role as a corporate secretary/compliance officer for private trust company. The company serves as a family office for private equity investments since the 1950s. It facilitates investments and offers services to several single-purpose entities across many industries, such as banking, real estate, oil and gas, and farm and ranch. The Legal Department offers essential advice and support that helps the office perform through its various investments and assist ownership concerns. Legal staff performs to the highest ability within a supportive work environment that offers a range of opportunities to develop staff into experienced professionals.

The company seeks serious candidates ready to step up and respond to the business environments and its constant evolution of the substantive work. Staff must perform diverse legal services, promote honest work, and protect ownership interests. Along with handling internal matters, the legal team oversees a bevy of outside legal practitioners.

Job Duties. The candidates may find themselves doing diverse tasks, such as--

Assist company on business transactions, in their various forms, whether corporate, real estate, partnership, trusts, etc.
Prepare for execution and notarize legal documents
Prepare billing files for management of legal costs
Work with outside counsel and legal staffs on trust and estate matters
Work with insurance agents and underwriters on managing claims
Work with title company to review title commitments and clear title
Work with estate planners to implement trusts
Work with accounting to see that accounts receivable and accounts payable work as designed in business deals or leases
Work with corporate officers to prepare corporate minutes
Work with regulatory entities to prepare officers for meetings and file appropriate paperwork
Create and maintain files
Identify matters that may need lawyer attention
Organize files and lawyer
Calendar and schedule dates of ongoing concern
Any other reasonable duties as directed by Legal Department

Personal and Organizational Development

Keep an overview of individual and company goals
Respond effectively to project research
Manage employee's time. Self starter.
Work well under pressure and manage deadlines while maintaining strong integrity and work product
Communicate effectively in English, Spanish (preferred)

Education & Experience

College degree required
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Demonstrated computer skills, including use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
